It’s starting soon! The MAC Future Forward Collection four-part launch! Part one is a collaboration with musical artist Tinashe (Two and a Half Men flashback, anyone?) and it’s an Eyeshadow x 9 Palette loaded up with cool-toned neutral, spring shades!
The packaging of the Eyeshadow x 9 Tinashe Palette is a beautiful, artistic splash of colors that give you a little peek of what the eyeshadows inside will look like as well as a signature from Tinashe. The palette itself comes in the standard Eyeshadow x 9 casing.
In this palette you’ll receive nine eye shadow shades in various colors and formulas – All Hands on Deck (light green shimmer, veluxe pearl), Black Water (black with gold pearl, veluxe pearl), Midnight Sun (shimmering mocha, frost), Revelry (mauvey purple grey, satin), Flame (mint silver shimmer, veluxe pearl), Gleam (barely pinked gold, lustre), Vulnerable (soft pearly purple, lustre), Amethyst (deep purple with pink pearl, satin), Quarry (soft muted plum-brown, matte). The only permanent shade in this palette is Quarry.
You guys I’m so impressed with this palette! The shades within the palette are on the neutral side but I love the green and purple pops of color. It’s not overdone but it’s not too pastel. All of the shades applied well with the exception of Black Water, which was a bit dry (but not awful). When worn over primer the eye looks I did with these shades lasted all day without fading or creasing.
The swatches below are done dry and on bare skin (no primer):
In the eye look below I started off with a base layer of MAC Utterly Becoming Pro Longwear Paint Pot (beige cream). First put Quarry in the crease as your transition shade and blend. Pat Midnight Sun to the inner and outer thirds of the eye with a flat, firm brush. Pat Vulnerable in the center area of the lid and blend into Midnight Sun. Mix some of Midnight Sun and Quarry and blend it through the crease. Use a bit of Gleam to blend out that crease color. Place a bit of Flame lightly at the inner corners of the eye and under the brow. Make sure that looks seamless by blending lightly. Apply a bit of Midnight Sun under the lower lash line. The eyeliner is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Hustle and the magnificent metallic GOLD on my waterline is Anastasia Beverly Hills Metallic Eyeliner in Gold. The mascara is MAC Zoom Lash.

I love the packaging but the last 9 shade palette I bought from MAC in the fall disappointed me. I used to wear MAC almost exclusively too.

Amethyst wears a little better when it’s over primer, the swatches are done with no primers so it probably does them a bit of a disservice. It wasn’t bad to work with, though!! Satins can be so hit or miss for me with MAC.. though not as bad as some of the Velvets!
