Every other week there is a Makeup Wars post. But never in all of the time I’ve been doing them has it been so incredibly easy to pick the item I want to feature. Usually I cheat and add in a few different things. After all… who could sit there, with all of the awesome products at the drugstore lately, and pick JUST ONE drugstore lip product and deem it the best? Because of the new COVERGIRL Oh Sugar! Lip Balms ($6.99 // Target) I sure can.
I said in my previous post that featured four of the Oh Sugar! shades that I’d be picking up the other six. A sponsored opportunity popped up with COVERGIRL for social media and we were given a $25 budget to buy a few things. You can tell from my Instagram post that I was a little excited for all of the newness… and well exceeded that budget given to me and paid out of pocket for the rest. What else is new?! (PS – the social media was something I was paid for, but there was no contract or payment for any blog posts for the campaign).
Why are the the COVERGIRL Oh Sugar! Lip Balms best of the best? The moisture of them feels amazing on the lips, especially in the winter. They apply so easily because of the smooth slip of the formula and the tints are just enough. The pigment is mostly to semi-sheer on these but if you coat your lips in a liner first you will get a lip that looks like you’re wearing the glossiest of all lipsticks.

The COVERGIRL Oh Sugar! Lip Balms are available now at Target for $6.99 as well as other drugstores nationwide. They are also on the ULTA Beauty website but for some reason they’re listed as $8.99 there. They are $7.99 on the COVERGIRL website. Soooo… grab em at Target!

Favorite drugstore product….that’s a hard choice right now!!! Things are so good!!! The new Covergirl palettes, the NYX ombre lip duos, and the new Rimmel lipsticks and liners have me admiring myself in the mirror a lot lately.

When I first opened mine I thought they’d be too dark for me but the colors are perfect. They are sheer and so hydrating. I want to pick up Sprinkle now

Since these are obviously intended to compete with the Fresh Sugar lippies, how do they compare?
Good catch! I ran to check because I do have both and the Fresh formula doesn’t have as much slip or moisture as the Covergirl formula does and the Covergirl is glossier to wear. My Fresh lippies are over a year old (I know, so gross… Fresh sent them for Holiday 2014 in a set!), so I’m not sure if that would play into that. Pigment wise they’re around the same. The Fresh seems to last for me just as long as Covergirl (this might depend on the color you try) but doesn’t keep as moisturized as long. I also think the Covergirl have a stronger sugar scent to them but that could also be because of the age of the Fresh ones. My old post on the Fresh is here. HTH!

My Fresh stash is also alarmingly dated, I hoard them but finally used up another tube.
