As I write this my blog has been down for over 48 hours (*as of post date it was inaccessible to me for an entire week). As each hour ticked by I could feel my anxiety rise. Basically all I can do at this point is write everything on Word, have my pics ready and do my posts and other work when I’m able. Who am I kidding? I’m still over here losing my mind.
So what can you do to relax while you’re still trying to get everything done?
Essential Oils. It doesn’t have to be oils. Even lighting a candle can relax and lift your mood! The scent of Eucalyptus always helps me take deep breaths and for some reason I’m loving pine… it’s the season I guess!
Chew Things. Go as healthy as you like, but I love gummy bears. The more firm, the better. It’s probably similar to grinding your teeth in that you have to push down hard when that gummy is in your mouth and for some reason this relieves stress as I work. Gum also works.
Wake Up Your Mouth. This goes hand-in-hand with Chew Things but sometimes you just want to suck on something, why not make it something that will give you a little zing but also benefit your health? The Chrüterchraft in the Ricola® Revitalizing Herb & Throat drops contains a top-secret blend of 10 natural herbs including Sage which aids in helping the body and mind re-balance and achieve harmony again. A necessity in stressful situations! The Lemon Zest have that lemony taste you love but is followed up by a fizzy burst that is both tingly and soothing.
This month Ricola is hitting the road! They’re visiting 10 cities to help America Wake Up Their Mouths! Check out the site for all the information and see if Ricola will be stopping by a city near you! While you wait for them to get local visit here to play the RIcollection game where you could WIN a bag of Ricola drops OR the big grand prize – $2,500 CASH.
Shift Focus. If you can (this one might be hard with some jobs) move your focus away from work and electronics and do something that makes you think. And by that I mean think about anything other than responsibilities. Adult coloring books are incredibly popular and easy to tote around (especially the smaller sizes), crossword puzzles. Yes, pen… paper…. Pencils…. NO PHONES. Old school it. If you’re on the computer or phone you’ll just be tempted to check emails, social media… things that can stress you out.
Write a List. Speaking of old school – write every thing down. List responsibilities. Prioritize. When you see it written out, in your handwriting, it makes it that much more clear. I personally am more likely to remember what I need to do and how to do it if I write it down. You can also keep a small journal on hand to write things down in. It doesn’t even need to be a full thought. For example, if your kids are making you nuts you can write “The kids … why they cray”. Writing it light-heartedly will make you smile as you re-read. Under that write what you love about your kids “Lydia has the biggest heart”, “Owen is incredibly giving”. Got it?
Hide. Does it seem like the world is closing in and you just need to get away from all the activity and noise? Anxiety. Been there. Find somewhere quiet to sit. Even 60 seconds of silence will recharge you a little bit. If you’re at work a popular choice is the bathroom, but I’d be lying if I said I haven’t hid in a storage closet a time or two in my past. Total silence and darkness.
