My family is huge. They span continents, even. Needless to say it makes the holiday season of giving extremely stressful. And expensive. Things aren’t cheap anymore, but we buy them for our loved ones on occasions such as holidays, birthdays…. just because. The worst part? Shipping. Shipping is so expensive. The further you have to ship an item, the more expensive it will be. Particularly overseas. Flat rate helps, but it’s not cheap by any means because of all of the extras you have to add on to ensure that the gift actually made it to the right destination. Life just got easier. Now you can send holiday cards (for FREE) and gift cards digitally with The Gift Card Shop.
First things first. The cards. I send about 50-60 Christmas cards every year. Buying the cards and the stamps is a huge expense. It’s also pretty impersonal. At TheGiftCardShop.com you can choose your card (for any occasion) and even add in a voice or video message. This saves a ton of time because I don’t have to spend hours addressing and sealing envelopes. If virtual sending isn’t your deal they also have a lot of physical, paper cards you can send.
To send an eCard start by choosing “Greeting Cards” then “Digital”.
From there select the occasion on the left and then decide which card is the best fit for the recipient.
Now it’s time to personalize it! I love the idea of being able to do this for friends and family. My grandma used to do a newsletter every single year with photos (just a one pager on a computer) but it was SO FUN to see the pics and read the story. She’s a teacher so she used to rhyme it also lol. I miss that!! Now I can get more personal in my cards also with what I want to say and also add photos and video.
You can also add a gift card onto the eCard. You don’t have to, but it’s killing two birds with one stone… the card and now the gift. Done and done. To add in the gift card click “Add a Gift Card” on the left hand side and choose from the options (such as Amazon, eBay, Sephora, Game Stop, Lowe’s and more!).
After you select which retailer you want the gift card to you can choose the dollar amount and click “Add”.
Write a special note and then click “Next” to choose the envelope color and style (yes, there are that many customizable options!).
After you design the envelope it’s time to review your eCard. When you click the card it’ll open up and give you a look at what the recipient will see when they get the message.
If all looks good click “Approve”. A screen will appear where you type in your name and email as well as that of the recipient. After you fill it in you can either click to send right away or schedule it to be delivered on a certain day. If you’re one for forgetting holidays and special occasions that schedule button is going to be your new best friend.
Now it’s time for the review. If all looks good simply add it to the cart to check out.
At the check out you’ll have the option to add in any coupon codes. Right now eBay is doing a promotion where if you purchase a $100 eBay gift card on www.thegiftcardshop.com you’ll receive a $5 eBay gift card (it’s automatically there when you choose eBay as your gift card option). Valid 11/16 through 11/22 – While supplies last. Limit one offer per customer.
I love this idea and it’s going to be particularly wonderful for sending to my little cousins. Normally I send them items from their wishlists, and of course everything they want is HUGE and a pain to ship. Now they can get a gift card and pick out their own things (and their parents can deal with the crowds)!
How would sending an eCard make life easier for you?

Brilliant idea! I usually give Amazon gift cards to the blokes but Sephora gift cards are a great gift choice for the girls who live too far to ship out gifts!

This is such a great idea for holiday gifts- especially for loved ones that live out of state. 🙂 And I love the idea of digital cards because let’s be honest- most people just toss them after the New Year. It can be such a waste.
