Once again, it was the packaging that drew me in. Benefit Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer ($29.00 // ULTA Beauty) has really awesome packaging. To the point where my hubby even commented on it, which I tweeted, and Benefit responded “hubby goals”. Truth. After all, the cap looks like an airplane wing and we know how boys are with their toys.
But the packaging isn’t why I bought this product. I bought this product because several of my favorite bloggers (who I know always state their honest opinions) said that this primer was amazing. It not only primes the lids for your eyeshadows but it holds them in place all day long (my lids are oily as all get out), hydrates and color-corrects. In addition it holds an SPF of 20 and boasts EnviroDefend complex which protects the delicate eyelid area from sun, smoke, and pollutants.
To apply Air Patrol it says to twist the base once and enough product for your eye will come out of the CushionCalm™ tip. You’re to massage onto the eye using that tip to evenly blend. Allow it to set and apply eyeshadow normally.
I apply Air Patrol by twisting the base once and using my finger to share the released primer on both of my eyelids. I use my finger to gently massage the product onto the eyelid. This completely defeats the purpose of the CushionCalm™ tip but, for me, one twist is just way too much product for one eyelid. By sharing the one twist worth of product I can coat both of my eyelids from lash to brow.
As you can see in the swatch below (which is one twist worth of product) there is quite a bit of product and it spreads out easily (I purposely didn’t blend it completely so you could see how much product there is in one twist).
I would recommend using your fingers to apply this product if you’re setting eyeshadow or other makeup on top of it, but use the CushionCalm™ tip to apply if you’re wearing it alone.
What is your favorite eyelid primer?
Benefit Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer retails for $29.00 and can be purchased at Sephora, ULTA Beauty and BenefitCosmetics.com .

I wasn’t sure about this, but after your description it sounds like a great primer!

Did you say how well this held up for you? If so, I missed it! I have super oily lids and UDPP / TFSI only hold up for 4-6 hours for me. The only thing that gets my eyeshadow through a full 8 hours (sometimes 10-12) is NARS Smudgeproof. However, my tube is nearly empty (I’m about to cut it open!), so I’m curious as to whether this would be a good replacement or not! At $29, I’m probably going to stick to the NARS that I know works, but maybe…. 😀

Hi Rachel! My eyelids are super oily too! TF doesn’t work at all on me. I’ve had good luck with NARS and MUFE. UDPP is a go-to because of the Anti-Aging but like you I only get about the 6 hour mark. This one from Benefit has lasted all day long on me. Morning until I take it off at night. It hasn’t been too hot around here so IDK how it would do in a hot or humid climate, but in PA Fall weather it’s holding up quite nicely! If you’re looking for a drugstore option I have had excelling luck with Milani’s eyeshadow primer as well as Maybelline Color Tattoos!
The applicator is definitely different than what I usually see! I really love Benefit – so I’ll have to snap this up!

I have oily lids too. This primer just seems a bit messy (it’s so runny) to me. Awesome review and great pics.

It wasn’t too bad when I used for both eyes! Benefit tweeted that the product is retractable by twisting the bottom in the opposite direction!
Unfortunately I can’t use this, as it has chemical sunscreen in it. I love the packaging, tho.

I wonder if this concealer comes in pale enough color to match me. Benefit’s complexion products rarely match my skin 🙁

Interesting that yours gives you so much with just one click- probably how it’s supposed to go. Mine definitely needs 2-3 to get that amount. Small defect I guess. I love it a lot though, it’s easily the longest lasting primer I have right now.
Benefit let me know it was retractable also by twisting the bottom in the opposite direction! So I can do that also 😉
I’d love to see a before and after shot!

I’ll get it up on Insta! 😉
I was definitely considering this product because it has all the benefits I’m looking for, but now that I see the shade, I’m not so sure. It’s so yellowish! does the color calm down once you apply it? Also, it’s too bad that too much of it comes out when you twist it. Nevertheless, I’ll still take a look. I was thinking of getting it during the Ulta or Sephora sales coming up in November

It blends in well with my skin! I’m neutral for coloring but IMO I lean warm more-so than cool. When I apply this to my lids it blends into my skin tone perfectly. I had a ton of it on my hand there =\ LOL When you go into Sephora have them squeeze you out a sample to try at home!
I will pick this up, when I need a new primer. I just bought 2 UD primers, which are just my go to hehe

I have that one too, but anti-aging lol
Interesting product. I think I would prefer a standard eye primer applied with my fingers though.
