Usually I’m the first one to fall for a majorly hyped up product. However when the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector® ($38.00 // Sephora) released I didn’t dive on it. After all, I have a lot of highlighters and how amazing could this one be? Some time passed and more hype ensued. I broke down and ordered it online – never once seeing it in person or swatching it myself. My experience with testing it makes it the perfect choice for a feature in this weeks Makeup Wars post which is focused on “Things That Surprised Me” – in a good way, or a bad way.
The box itself is stunning. A flashy rose gold mirrored box with silver wording.
The casing of the Skin Perfector is the usual packaging that we see in compact products from Becca – round, black plastic with a silvered metal topper and Becca embossed around it.
As you open the compact there is a full mirror on the top side and 0.28oz worth of product on the bottom side.
Champagne Pop is described as a soft white gold w/ pinky peach undertones. As you can tell in the swatch below this highlighter is heavily pigmented but blends out so subtly it’s almost non-existent without the help of a light source.
Why is this product something that surprised me? Because when I first put it on I hated it. It looked like nothing on me. Like it did nothing. I was actually angry with myself not-so-much for spending the money on it but for believing all of the hype surrounding it. Frustrated I stomped into my makeup room to take a photo of the product on me, intent on doing what was likely the first negative review of it. When I sat down and loaded the photos up on my computer I stopped. What was that glow?! The highlight looked incredible in photos. Grabbing a mirror I ran outside and looked at myself in direct light. Luminous. This skin perfector/highlighter/whatever is fabulous at all of the right moments. Perfect in all of the right places. It’s a must have… Basically, if you’re going to strobe, strobe with this.
Below Champagne Pop is swatched heavily on the left and blended out on the right:
In the look below I used Champagne Pop at the tops of my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose. Please do yourself a favor and buy this.
The Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector retails for $38.00 and is available at Sephora. This product is currently listed as limited edition.

I did the same thing – ordered it online, sight unseen. On me, though, it’s very pigmented. I have to apply it with my fingers and blend it out so that I don’t look like I’m plugged into a light socket. lol.

It’s definitely best to use a brush that isn’t dense at all, something like the ELF Studio Fan Brush and just tap lightly with it https://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/tools/single-brushes/studio_fan_brush. I use my finger to dab lightly into the powder then lightly onto the cupids bow and other smaller areas.
Ohhhhhhhh I love the color!!!
I’ve been sitting on the fence about this purchase because it was so hyped up that I just couldn’t believe it was that good. But after seeing it on you, holy crap, I need this in my makeup bag.

I was the same! It’s totally worth it!!
I haven’t even worn this yet because I figured it was hype….and all the IG posts I saw were ott highlighting. I was biased against it but after reading your review, I’ve got to try it for myself.

IDK why people go OTT with their highlight. It’s beyond this “strobing” thing.
I bought the Becca rose gold skin perfector a few months ago and proceeded to lose it. As much as I love rose gold, it was actually too dark for me. This would be a better shade for my light skin, so I need it, right?

RIGHT! 😉 That Rose Gold is gorgeous. Even when I am in ULTA working with Pur I play with the Becca Rose Gold lol
Just stunning. I can see why you are so enchanted with it. I’d be at Sephora right now if I hadn’t bought the Tom Ford Moonlight Duo.

I’m trying to swear of LE items since they so often land at the back of my collection once they’re unavailable. But THIS is really testing my will power. I’m in love with all things shimmery and skin perfecting from BECCA, so I’ve been trying to avert my eyes, and this isn’t helping! HALP!!

The product looks beautiful on you! I love a good highlighter. My current one is too pink on my very olive skin, so this one could be a much better fit. Thanks for telling me about it!

I bought this over the weekend because I knew what you were writing about. Fun fact, it’s sold out at many Sephora’s and the CS I spoke with said that they weren’t getting more in. So if you want it, grab it now.

WOW seriously?! I haven’t been to the stores lately to check. It’s still online so hopefully those that want it can get it! I heard people are buying backups upon backups.
Seriously, this highlighter is freaking incredible. I use it everyday and it looks like such a natural glow!
