How to dry your hair… It seems like everyone knows how to do that. But did you know there are certain techniques to keep your hair from being damaged? Did you know that there are products out there that will not only protect your hair from the heat but also speed up drying time?
Here are a few tips that I’ve learned over the years on how to dry your hair easily and quickly.
Wash Your Hair. Starting off you’ll want to use products that were actually created to help your hair blow dry faster like these. Follow the directions on the back for optimum results.
Prep Your Hair. Squeeze out the excess water before you step out of the shower and lightly towel dry the ends. After that wrap your hair up in a cotton t-shirt (because no one wants frizz and this helps keep it down).
Head to the mirror (or bedroom or wherever you do hair at) and comb out your hair with a wide-toothed comb. Apply your favorite hair styling product for damp hair. I tend towards all of those anti-frizz products. If you have a very short hair cut you can skip right to the next section.
If you have long hair braid it loosely and use bobby pins on either side of the scalp to hold down flyaways as they dry. (I get awful “wings” if I don’t do this and it makes hair awful to style!). Let it air dry a little this way while you do your makeup.
Dry Your Hair. Usually at this point the crown of your head is pretty dry. Pick up your hair dryer and take a few minutes to move it around the bottom layers of your hair to dry them up a bit more. This keeps the heat and damage off of the top of your head and helps keep those baby hairs and frizz in control.
Section the hair off with clips and dry with a vented brush. I alternate between a round and flat brush, depending on what section I’m on (front gets the round, back gets the flat).
Style. Primp as usual! I love to use dry shampoo for an easy day (it’s not just for oily anymore – it helps so that hair isn’t as flat) or I get at it with a straightening iron.
