This month Birchbox invites you to Say Yes! Basically say hello to adventure and say goodbye to the word “no”.
As you open your sign up for your own Birchbox the card resting on top gives you a little explanation and greeting on one side and a run down of what is in your box on the other side.
What’s inside?
From Sienna Naturals, Moisturizing Leave-in Conditioner. This isn’t technically a “leave-in” conditioner as much as it is a moisturizing mask (they tell you to rinse it unless you need the extra hydration of leaving it in… I’d imagine your hair would have to be extremely dry for that). I have attitude about getting a conditioner without the coordinating shampoo. That being said I will use this as a mask once a week because I do like the product – it works well and smells nice.
From Shamanuti, Activated Charcoal Cleanser. I’ve never heard of this brand before but I’ve been into charcoal lately in using the products from Biore. The Shamanuti cleanser has a bit more of a potent smell but it isn’t offensive and worked well at removing my makeup.
From Supergoop!®, Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology. Normally I would definitely complain about the size of this sample. It’s a sunscreen (and a good one) in the smallest sample tube ever. The only reason I’m happy to have this in my box this month is because of my vacation next week. This will be perfect to keep in my bag for touch ups as we walk around.
From Dr. Jart+, Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45+ Shade #2. Again… normally I’d complain about this because the shade is a tad too dark and the sample is really small. BUT. I’m likely going to get a bit darker on vacation and I do love this product so it’ll work out well as a “just in case” travel item.
From Marcelle, Waterproof Eyeliner. I got a lovely purple shade called Mulberry. I imagined it’d be more burgundy but really it was more grape colored. I wouldn’t exactly say “waterproof” for this one but it did last all day on the upper-lid and only faded slightly on the lower. It didn’t work well waterlining for me which was disappointing. I’ve had liners not touted as waterproof that have lasted better on my waterline.
BONUS. This month Birchbox also included a bonus from L. Erickson – the Narrow Grab & Go Ponytail Holder. Between my daughter and I we’re always losing our ponytail holders. More her than me =\ Since this is a nicer one I’ll be hiding it. I love the purple color and how it’s a little bit more fancy.
There was also a code inside to enter on the website to see what prizes you win. I ended up with 20% off any purchase of $50+ in their shop. I save my referral points so I’ll prob use this soon!
Birchbox just isn’t exciting for me anymore at all. Even though some of the products this month were okay and I’ll use them (for the most part) none had me jumping out of my chair or even thinking “ohhhh”. This box is just not up to par with all of the other beauty boxes out there that offer more product and bigger sizes resulting in better value for your ten bucks. Where is the Birchbox of days past? I miss that guy.
The thing Birchbox really has going above all the rest is their rewards/referral system which gives you 10 points per review and 50 points per referral. When you get 100 points it equals $10 to spend in their shop – which is FULL of greatness. So, for example, if you review all 5 items for 2 months you get your 100 points and you’re getting your $10 back to shop with. Personally I like to hoard mine until I get to about $100 and then go on a spree when I need a bit of a pick me up. You also get points for shopping (they’ll send you codes via email) and extra goodies you can add into your cart.
Wanna sign up for Birchbox? (Click for referral) If you like what you see in this post go to the website and fill out the form. It’s just $10 a month (free shipping too!) and you get some cool stuff (I got a FULL SIZE beautyblender one month!), tho I will warn you, you’re going to get stuff you hate as well. I used to say that after it’s all said and done throughout the year you do get your money’s worth, but so far this year it’s not looking good.
***Disclosure – I buy my own Birchbox, but the links posted here do give me referral points which I can use towards product on the site. Once you sign up for your own Birchbox, you’ll also get a referral code to send out to others and get some points of your own!
My June box looked NOTHING like yours! The moment I opened it I unsubscribed, all I got were packet samples and a bunch of unexciting things that definitely weren’t worth my $10. It makes me sad that it ended that way but I’m really unimpressed with the service. I signed up for Ipsy the same day 😀

You’ll be much happier with ipsy!!!
Looks pretty good. I stopped subscribing to Birchbox a while ago & switched to Glossybox, but stopped that too. I kept getting too many items that weren’t really for me. Now I have so many samples lying around. Gotta use them!! :]

You’d probably like Boxycharm! It’s the same cost as Glossybox but it’s full sized products that you’ll use and that are on trend!
I totally agree, I’m just not that excited about Birchbox like I am about Ipsy, at least with that you get a cute bag every month. Now Boxycharm is where it’s at! It’s double the price but i think it’s so worth it.

Totally worth it. I got give full sized products last month!!
I’ve actually been feeling the same way about Birchbox. Just really uninspiring. Honestly, the $5 Walmart Beautybox I ordered was better than my Birchbox. At this point I’m just keeping the subscription going to complete 90 points which I plan to use for a Clarisonic. After that, I think I’m done. I have Ipsy and it’s also been kind of meh for me. As much as I change my profiles I continually get makeup colors or products that just don’t fit me. Maybe I just need to take a break.
THAT is the exact word I was looking for! Uninspiring! It’s not like I won’t use some or most of it.. but it’s like… boring… you hit the nail on the head. I think the Target one was $7 this season and it was awesome. I have $60 in points I’ll prob blow to get out of it all. I tried to cancel before but it never went through =\ That next month I got the full size beautyBlender so I was like WHEW yay… but since then it’s still been a meh shipment every month.
