When I was 8 years old I never thought I’d put charcoal on my face. To me, charcoal was the stuff you lit up for hot dogs and s’mores while you were camping. You may know that Bioré® has a new line of skincare that incorporates natural charcoal which known for its ability to draw out and trap deep-down impurities. Because of how my face looks sans makeup (which you shall see in the tutorial below… apologies and also you’re welcome) I’m all for using products to suck out and remove the bad.
The three products I picked up at Target are the Bioré® Self Heating One Minute Mask, the Bioré® Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser and the Bioré® Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strip.
Bioré® Self Heating One Minute Mask. A unique, natural charcoal formula heats the second it touches your skin to open pores and remove pore-clogging dirt and oil, giving you purified skin in one minute. This oil free mask removes 2.5x more pore-clogging dirt and oil than a basic cleanser.
Bioré® Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. When you use this oil free cleanser you’ll notice it pumps black, lathers white and rinses clean. Infused with Japanese Skin Purifying Technology the Bioré® Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser purifies pores leaving behind deeply cleaned and tingly smooth skin.
Bioré® Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strip. This cult fave product is now available in new form! The Bioré® Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strip is infused with natural charcoal to unclog pores and draw out excess oil for the deepest clean. The charcoal will also reduce shine to see 3x less oil. I need these for my forehead!
Below I used all three of these products for my tutorial and in the step-by-step I’ll talk about how I used them. My face is free of makeup although before the mask I did pencil in my brows slightly since they’re pretty much non-existent. I felt this gave me more of a guide for my mask application, though you’ll notice after I rinsed off they went buh-bye.
- Wet Your Face. The Bioré® Self-Heating One Minute Mask is activated by water. I just got my hands wet and gently patted the water over my face.
- Outline Your Face. Not with a marker, because that’s silly. Use a bit of the mask to mark a circle around your face to keep yourself “in bounds”. On this step I also add some to my cheek area since I have some melasma marks there. IDK if this particular mask helps with that, but it’s just my routine and this is share time 😉
- Fill Your Face. With the mask! Use the rest of the product in your packet to coat your face. Massage this into your face for one minute. As you do this the mask will heat up (you’ll also feel the heat as you apply).
- Rinse. After your minute is up rinse well with water.
- Cleanse. Yes, I cleanse after. Is that backwards? It’s just something that I do before and after when I wear masks at night and then if I am doing a mask in the morning (because when you’re a mom you mask up when you can) I just cleanse the one time after the mask is rinsed. The Bioré® Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser contains natural charcoal and deep cleans 2x better than a basic cleanser.
- Strip. Um… your pores. This is one of my favorite things to do once a week! Leave the new Bioré® Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips on for 10 minutes to draw out a weeks worth of buildup.
I found all of these Bioré® products at Target where they’re currently featuring a Cartwheel Offer —> Purchase any 3 Biore items get a $5 gift card. Offer runs 6/7-6/20.
How do you spa your face at home?

I need to pick that one up, too! This line is always low which is reassuring because I feel like that means people rebuy it a lot because it’s good!
