About a month ago I announced that I’d be embarking on a hair removal journey with the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4x (read about it here). Because my arm hair has always made me a bit self-conscious I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to get that under control.
First off, I was incredibly surprised at how simple and easy the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4x was to use. It’s cordless and powered by a rechargeable battery so you can do it anywhere (I’ve walked around my house with it checking on kids and supervising play time) at any time. You place the tip of the device on your skin and you’ll hear a beep. Move the device a bit, repeat. It only took me 15 minutes to do my entire arm.
Second, it’s not the lightest thing you’ll ever hold, but it’s not heavy either. The way the handle is curved like an hourglass makes it comfortable to grip and move around the areas you need to. I was able to work the Tria over both arms without feeling any cramps or aches.
For my first treatment I did a few spots with the Tria at a level 1. I didn’t feel anything from that, so I went ahead and upped it to level 2. I felt a bit of a heat sensation in a few areas, but nothing major. I actually considered upping it again but felt that it was better to wait. After awhile the hair started to re-grow and I didn’t find it to be any slower or anything less… but… it did appear that the hairs looked more fine. Tria mentions that you’re likely not to see a difference after your first treatment, so the fact that I didn’t notice much did not surprise me.
For my second treatment, which I just did today, I brought the device up to a level 3. Everything went just as quickly as before but on this level I did notice more heat and I could feel the zaps a bit. It wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle and it didn’t make me wince, flinch or want to level back down. Maybe I’m that girl that likes to feel things working, but it wasn’t uncomfortable at all. That being said, for treatment 3 I’ll likely leave it on level 3 unless I feel absolutely nothing when I start it off.
I’m so excited to see the results after this treatment. I do expect to see some results as it’s been stated that “clinical studies demonstrate a 70% reduction in hair re-growth after 2 treatments, per a study done by Ronald Wheeland, M.D., at the University of Arizona Health Sciences, Tucson, AZ (2007)”.

Wow, glad you are getting results. How long are you supposed to use this overall?
I think after the 3 months you just need a maintenance zap every couple months or so? I do need to research that more.. I’ll look for it and add it in for the next post!
This is such a neat gadget- I’d use it on my arms too.

I’d love to see a follow-up post on how well it does/doesn’t work! I have this weird nearly-phobia issue with body/facial hair, I’ll spare the details. haha But I would LOVE to just get rid of freaking every bit of hair everywhere that isn’t on my head or eyebrows. hahah

Once every other week =D It says if you do that for 3 months you should essentially be hairless. I’ll de-hair ALL THE THINGS.
I love my Tria I am about to post my update as well! I didn’t know what to expect from it, and I am pleasantly surprised!

I have been eyeing this… I only really have about 10 hairs on my 2 legs combined after having IPL so I use my little handheld IPL… and working on my underarms… this definitely seems nice.
