The theme for the May 2015 ipsy Glam Bag is Jetsetter. You guys. The actual bag is so fabulous there could be samples of turds inside and as long as it didn’t stain or ruin the bag I’d be okay with it.
I’ve seen a few versions of the bags floating around, all are created by Breakups to Makeup for ipsy. Mine says VIP: Very Important Products and it’s true… your smaller makeup bag does hold your most important beauty items. Those items that you can’t live without all day.
What’s inside?
From Jesse’s Girl, Pure Pigment Eye Dust. The shade I got is in Brown Sugar which is a matte brown. At first glance it looked orange toned in the pot, so I wasn’t too excited, but when I opened it up and swatched it’s the perfect terracotta brown shade. It’s very light and not incredibly pigmented but I feel like it’s meant to be that way because it looks good and works for what you need it to. I’m not the biggest fan of a loose eye shadow powder, I find it messy and tedious to work it out of a sifter, but for this shade I’ll do it!
From NUXE, Rêve de Miel® Facial Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel. To be honest I didn’t even try this one. For some reason I’m having a break out issue on my chin and I didn’t want to make things worse by trying a new skin care product from a brand I don’t know much about. My skin is sensitive and reacts easily to new products. At this point it’s not a risk I’m willing to take. It’s also touted on the ipsy site as being for dry skin, which I don’t have. The scent of it is also pretty foul. It’s surprising this was sent to me, since I filled out on the form that I have oily/combo skin.
From Chella, Eyebrow Color Pencil. The shade I got is in Tantalizing Taupe, which probably does well for most as a universal shade match. Personally most taupe shades always look a bit off on me. This wasn’t the case with the Chella pencil. I found that this shade matched perfectly and was very easy to use. My brow hair is sparse so the thin pencil made it easy to draw in a more natural look.
From Balanced Guru, Style Me Hair Oil. This is a nice oil for use at the ends of my hair. I also like to use oils like this on my feet for ultimate hydration. The light peppermint scent is refreshing and not overpowering.
From Urban Decay, 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil. I got the shade Ozone and it’s one of my faves from way back. I love to wear red lips when I go out and Ozone is wonderful for keeping reds and other dark shades in-bounds. The mini size is perfect to keep in the makeup bag and pairs up well with this months bonus item which is a generous sampling of two of Urban Decay’s new Revolution High-Color Lip Gloss shades in Failbait and Bittersweet. The only thing that stinks about the lip gloss bonus is that the pots of product can get a bit messy. They gave so much product which is wonderful, but once you open them you can’t take them anywhere with you.
(L-R: UD Failbait, UD Bittersweet, Jesse’s Girl Brown Sugar, Chella Taupe, Vincent Longo Ambrosia Mist)
Maybe you’re wondering about the Vincent Longo Ambrosia Mist. I had some referral and review points and I was nervous they would expire and disappear so I picked this up to check it out. It’s actually a gel eye stain (bet you thought I would say lip stain) and I was shocked it was so sheer. IDK if I should be doing this, but I wear it on the lips lol ah well. I wasn’t a fan of it on my eyes so make it work.
Obviously I loved this months bag to death. Absolutely worth the $10 with the bag alone. I love the new UD Lipgloss formula (I have several here to review) and the other makeup items were surprise loves also, two of them appear to even be full sized!
Ipsy has profile pages, so here is mine. There is also a pretty decent referral program in place. You refer friends and redeem points to get a sweet little bonus in your next bag (use the points to choose your own!). I’ve gotten some really fab full sized products but definitely read the description because some of them are a lot of points for just a sample size. Previous bonuses have been from NYX, Tarte, Revlon and more! Note: These points DO expire. I didn’t know that until recently when I was logged in and noticed my point total… I left for dinner and came back and it was 300 points less. I wish I’d have known that ahead of time so I could have spent them, but hopefully this message will help you out so you don’t lose your points!

I received the same UD lipliner and lip color samples. But I wonder, can the pencil be sharpened? Sounds like a dumb question but the barrel seems like it’s plastic and I can’t twist it to get more product out. Just curious. You seem like the right person to ask 😉
Loved that UD pencil and will probably buy full size but I’m still trying to figure out this sample. Ha!
yup =) I use an UD Grindhouse Sharpener and I also have one from MUFE that I use. Any should work!
Love that bag! The lip colors are fabulous!

I was so surprised to find 250 points expired. Since they rarely have things you can get with the points I don’t think that is right. My bag this month was substantially different than yours other than the UD and Chella. I’m happy with most of it.

I was really mad when my points expired. They have more now than they used to for redeeming, but that should have been a consideration for them when they decided points should expire. There wasn’t even an email to warn me that points were going away. Birchbox at least does that.
Ahhh every item looks so great! I wish ipsy would ship to Europe though… 🙁 so jealous right now! Hahaha

So cool that the eyebrow pencil worked out. I don’t have issues with mine- they are full and bushy if I don’t tame them.

Aaaah this makes me miss my ipsy sub! I love the Jesse’s Girl pigments – I always do my eyes first and clean up before I move on, so I don’t mind loose shadows. The brand also sells a transformer that you can use to turn any of the pigments into a liner – that shade would look awesome as a liner!!! Also, Ozone is my JAM. It’s a Holy Grail for me in antifeathering! GREAT BAG
