Favorite New Item feat. the T3 Micro Twirl 360 Curling Iron // Makeup Wars

*** PRODUCT RECALL. See info at the bottom.

One of my favorite ways to wear my hair is with a bit of curl. All my life curling my hair has been worthless. The curl always got droopy and would completely disappear so that it just looked like I had one weird bump going on. In the past few years there have been a few items that have helped make the curl last longer, but not control frizz. In order to curl my hair I’d have to flat iron it first, which is that extra step I’m way too lazy to deal with. Since trying the T3 Micro Twirl 360 Curling Iron ($230.00 // Sephora) I’ve been impressed with how quick and efficient it is in my styling routine – making it the perfect choice for this weeks Makeup Wars topic Favorite New Item.

T3 Twirl 360 review

The T3 Micro Twirl features a 1.25in, auto-rotating barrel and motion sensing technology with a single “Go” button that activates and twirls with just a small flick of the wrist. This device can actually sense the movement of your hand to automatically rotate in the desired direction. It heats up to 410 degrees, has  two speeds and T3 tourmaline + ceramic technology. The description sounds intimidating, but it was incredibly easy to use. If anything I was personally more shocked by how well it worked, rather than being frustrated learning how to use it in my routine.

To achieve my no-frizz, chic curl look (1) I first blew my hair completely dry (before pic below). To (2) prep my hair for curls I’ve been using the Suave Luxe Style Infusion Souffle Mousse. I put a generous amount of that in my hair working it all the way through. Next (3) I blast my hair with the hair dryer again and use a paddle brush to smooth it out. (4) Using a clip I pull up all of my hair except the bottom layer. (5) With the T3 Mirco Twirl I curl that layer. (6) When completely finished I blast it with hairspray, which lately has been the Suave Luxe Style Infusion Anti-Humidity Hairspray. (7) Repeat this with as many layers of your hair as necessary. I have to do about 4-5 depending on how much curl I want. (8) When completely done curling I spritz some Dermorganic Leave-In Spray Therapy on my hands and work into my ends, which tend to be dry looking always. (9) Before washing the Spray Therapy off my hands I flip my head upside down and run my fingers quickly through the curls.

Suave luxe style

Below is the before and after using the T3 Twirl 360. Generally I like to do a medium sized curl and then shake it out. After about an hour everything relaxes to look like a gorgeous/effortless wave that actually stays that way. I love that this curling iron is easy to use and also smooths out my major frizz while it curls. It’s nice not to have to use the straightening iron before the curling iron, which is usually what I have to do. Cutting out that middle man saves a ton of time and allows me to curl my hair more often than I used to. It’s pricey, but it’s doing the work of two items for me and it’s a curl that lasts – making the cost well worth it.

This looks like a great curling iron! I don’t use them often, but sometimes I want more even curls, so I’ll use one to give myself bigger waves or bouncy curls.
