Generally I love Fall makeup launches, but there is always something about a Spring MAC pastel launch. I don’t even think I realized it until now, but I always order so many things. The MAC is Beauty Collection was a big one, separated into three parts. I reviewed two of the nail polishes here and today I have quite a bit of the color line to share with you!
The packaging is the same as the general MAC line (flat black) but that works well with the light, Springy hues.
MAC is Beauty Lipstick ($16.00 // Nordstrom). Of the 12 (yes, 12) lipstick shades released in this collection I have 5 to share with you in Real Redhead (mauve nude, lustre), Real Doll (light pinky lilac, lustre), French Twist (light pinky nude, lustre), Catty (light creamy pink, lustre) and Make Me Gorgeous (intense coral pink, amplified). You all know I tend to love the MAC lustre finish, particularly the nude shades. They’re so creamy and feel fantastic. Real Doll is a lustre, but definitely not a shade I’d usually go for. I purchased it because it was originally from the MAC Barbie Collection (!!!!) and because I’ve been into that shade on my lips this Spring! For me, it’s definitely out of the comfort zone, but I’m trying to do more of that. Make Me Gorgeous is the only intense shade in my bunch and it’s definitely intimidating swatched and in the tube… but on the lips. It’s Summer’s answer to lip color. I heart it!
MAC is Beauty Cremesheen Glass ($20.00 // Nordstrom). Four shades of Cremesheen Glass were released within MAC is Beauty and the two I got to try out are Japanese Spring (pale dirty pink) and On the Scene (pale peach). I like Cremesheen Glass because they’re shiny, rock the doe-foot applicator I love and aren’t overly sticky. These shades are on the sheer side and pair nicely with all of the nude lipstick colors I bought!
MAC is Beauty Eye Shadow ($16.00 // Bloomingdale’s). I’ve long been after the perfect mint shadow. Not so much metallic or matte… just that in the middle satin. I have definitely found that in Preening. It’s slightly chalky but not dry. One layer gives a sheer mint, springy shade but if you add another layer or two it’s a more intense pastel mint. No creasing over primer. Love it!
MAC is Beauty Fluidline ($16.00 // Nordstrom). Oh, hello my new favorite liner on Earth! Yes, I’m talkin’ to you, Lowlights! A deep, blackened chocolate brown – smoother and pigmented… stays all day. LOVE.
MAC is Beauty Eye Kohl ($16.00 // Bloomingdale’s). I Get No Kick is a metallic nude that makes your eyes look HUGE. Even though it’s a kohl it stayed nicely on my waterline. I didn’t notice any migration but it is a nude. This is limited edition and I’m so sad because it’s a must have forever!
MAC is Beauty 267 Curved Angle Eyeliner Brush ($24.00 // Nordstrom). This is an odd duck. At first glance it looks like gel liner life simplified. In reality there is a major learning curve. I had the best luck pressing the brush on the curves of my lash line but even then I still needed to take a slim liner brush and touch up. Even then I wasn’t happy and ended up making the liner thicker and smudging it (in the EOTD below). This happened on multiple tries. Beyond that the biggest problem is that because of the curve you can’t dip the brush in it’s entirety into the product. Not without ruining the product, anyway. As much as I wanted to love this I just don’t.
In the look below: (EYES) UDPP, MAC Preening Eye Shadow all over the lid and up through/above the crease. MAC Vapour Eye Shadow was used to highlight the brow bone. The top liner is MAC Lowlights Fluidline applied thickly and smudged, the bottom liner is the MAC I Get No Kick Eye Kohl. The mascara is Benefit Roller Lash. (BROWS) Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color in Light and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. (FACE) Cover FX BB Gel Mattifying Anti-Blemish Treatment in N Light, Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup SPF 15 in Light, Urban Decay Obsessed Afterglow Blush. (LIPS) MAC Real Doll Lipstick, MAC Japanese Spring Cremesheen Glass.
Some of these items are sold out in certain locations, so I’ve linked them above where they’re available as of this blog post. If you see something you love, definitely pick it up before it’s gone for good!
