For the April 2015 Birchbox they collaborated with Rifle Paper Co. to create an exclusive design for the box, which, I must say, is stunning and perfectly season appropriate. For some reason it makes me want Mimosa’s poolside. =D Rifle Paper Co. is a stationary company so idk why we didn’t get a pretty notepad or something in the box, it’d have been a major improvement in what was actually in there. =\ Was that a spoiler?
As you open your Birchbox the card resting on top gives you a little explanation and greeting on one side and a run down of what is in your box on the other side.
From LA FRESH®, Instant Body Soother. I’m a fan of LA FRESH and their wipes, particularly for travel. I’ve been really stressed lately and the scent and feel of these wipes actually did make me feel a bit better. IDK if it’s all in my head… in my head it works so that’s good enough for me. These would be wonderful for traveling when you’re driving long distances.
From jane iredale, Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain. The best part of this months box comes in a teeeeeny tiny lil package. The shade I got is in Forever Pink and it doesn’t do much for my cheeks but is GORGEOUS on my lips. The color in the tube is a light peach but on the lips it’s a natural and healthy pink flush. Freaking gorgeous and feels incredible on. I’d totally pick up a full size.
From Beaver Professional, Hydro Nutritive Moisturizing Shampoo. I’m going to be honest I didn’t even put this or the conditioner in my hair. It doesn’t smell nice at all but more importantly I just got my hair highlighted (blonder than normal) and this duo is not hair color friendly. If I liked the scent I’d save it for when I need my hair re-done… but it’s not worth it, IMO. I will say, however, that it was nice to get a Shampoo + Conditioner from the same line and brand to use together. So, kudos for that.
From Beaver Professional, Hydro Nutritive Repairing Conditioner. See above.
From Harvey Prince, Hello Body Butter. Right off the fragrance is intense. Like a musky man but in a unisex way. It’s a little too strong for me, even as it dries down, but it does feel nice.
This month’s Birchbox shipment was pretty disappointing. ONE extra mini sized makeup product? REALLY? I get that it’s a “sample” box but if only one of those samples is going to be makeup it’d be nice to see it be full-sized. Or at least throw a nail polish in there. I guess I’m holding Birchbox up to high standards because of what comes in the other boxes for $10-$12.
The thing Birchbox really has going above all the rest is their rewards/referral system which gives you 10 points per review and 50 points per referral. When you get 100 points it equals $10 to spend in their shop – which is FULL of greatness. So, for example, if you review all 5 items for 2 months you get your 100 points and you’re getting your $10 back to shop with. Personally I like to hoard mine until I get to about $100 and then go on a spree when I need a bit of a pick me up. You also get points for shopping (they’ll send you codes via email) and extra goodies you can add into your cart.
Wanna sign up for Birchbox? (Click for referral) If you like what you see in this post go to the website and fill out the form. It’s just $10 a month (free shipping too!) and you get some cool stuff (I got a FULL SIZE beautyblender one month!), tho I will warn you, you’re going to get stuff you hate as well. After it’s all said and done throughout the year you do get your money’s worth.
***Disclosure – I buy my own Birchbox, but the links posted here do give me referral points which I can use towards product on the site. Once you sign up for your own Birchbox, you’ll also get a referral code to send out to others and get some points of your own!
