NARS Dual-Intensity Blush + All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation Review + Swatches

March 26, 2015

The latest NARS releases have been all about the face. Why wouldn’t you want to make that beautiful mug of yours even more flawless? The NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation and Dual-Intensity Blush launches have gripped the attention of beauty lovers worldwide, and with good reason.

NARS Foundation Dual Intensity Blush review

The packaging for the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation is rectangular and glass with a black top. The dispenser is, thankfully, a pump. The packaging of the Dual-Intensity Blush is like a large version of the Dual Intensity Eyeshadow singles – square with that rubbery feel we’re used to with NARS packaging.

All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation ($48.00 // Sephora). Of the 20 shades available I matched with Mont Blanc (aka Light 2) which is interesting because in the powder I’m a bit darker and use Deauville. They say one drop is all you need, and that’s the truth – if you don’t desire anything above a light coverage. The formula is runny but will, in fact, cover your entire face in one pump. Luckily, this foundation is also buildable and 2-3 pumps later I’m a happy camper. I found that the final result was, in fact, “luminous” and didn’t feel at all like I was wearing anything. Tips: the bottle says shake it up. Do it. That should go without saying but… I’ve seen things. Also, play around. Don’t just try this once and think you aren’t going to like it. Some people are liking it best using just their fingers to apply. Others are saying brushes are the way to go. I’ve tried those ways and I personally like to apply this foundation with my beautyblender.

Dual-Intensity Blush ($45.00 // Sephora). Available in 6 shades the one shown in this post is Fervor which is described as a shimmering soft pink/sparkling deep coppery rose. These blushes are formulated with NARS’ exclusive Translucent Prismatic Technology, which allows for multidimensional effects. I love that can be used wet or dry, as you can see in the swatch below using them wet gives off a more metallic and vibrant sheen. For Fervor I like wearing the pink side as a blush and the coppery rose side as an eyeshadow.

NARS Fervor Dual-Intensity Blush Swatches

In the swatches below I swatched the NARS Mont Blanc All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation and then the Dual Intensity Blush. For the blush the left swatch of the color is dry and the right is wet.

In the look below I’m wearing the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Mont Blanc with Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup SPF 15 in Light on top. The pink side of NARS Fervor Dual Intensity Blush is all I have on my cheeks.

For my eyes I used Pür Minerals Cease Crease and added the coppery rose side of NARS Fervor Dual Intensity Blush all over the lid and through the crease. Blended into the crease and up is the NARS Himalia Dual Intensity Eyeshadow. To blend that out and highlight I used MAC Grain Eyeshadow and also popped a little bit of that at the inner corners of the eye. The liner is Marc Jacobs Ro(Cocoa) Highliner – Gel Crayon and the mascara is Urban Decay Perversion. Brows are IT Cosmetics Your Brows But Better Brow Power Skinny Pencil and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.

On the lips is NARS Patong Beach Velvet Lip Liner with NARS Femme Fleur Hardwired Lipstick on top. For a bit of shine I added some Benefit Sugarbomb Ultra Plush Lip Gloss.

Thank you! I only seem to get crazy shimmer from Dual-Intensity when they’re wet. Other than that it’s not bad at all! And, of course, I don’t mind a little shimmer on the eyes 😉

My skin leans towards oily more than dry, but I do get minor dry areas on my nose and cheeks. When I used the foundation with the damp beautyblender I didn’t see an issue.

Excellent review, Brooke! I haven’t tried either of these products, but think that the new foundation has great potential for me. I have used, and loved, their tinted moisturizer for years– so this seems like it would be the logical next step for me! Your FOTD is stunning! I love that you used the coppery rose side of the blush on your eyes! GORGEOUS!!!!!!
