MAC Bao Bao Wan Collection Swatches, Review + GIVEAWAY

The MAC Bao Bao Wan Collection really came out of left field for me. I was up early (and by early I mean early) one morning and, of course, poking around on Nordstrom’s website. I was looking to see if they had launched the MAC Cinderella collection yet but I saw Bao Bao Wan, a collection I hadn’t seen or heard of until that very moment. It was full of sparkly, jewel-toned gorgeousness and even though I saw no swatches online I plopped most of it in my cart and checked out.

The packaging is gorgeous – it’s got a flat black base but with a texturized green/brown sand over-top, trimmed in rose gold. Hard to describe, but you can see in the pics how pretty it is. There is the regular MAC print in gold but above that Bao Bao Wan is written in gold script. One of my favorite packaging designs from MAC.

Bao Bao’s Jewels Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow // $44.00 – Nordstrom. These are 5 sparkly shades in an icy pink, gold, brass, chocolate bronze and steel blue that can be used wet or dry – either way they have an excellent amount of pigment. I also found these shadows easy to apply and blend, lasting all day over primer.

Bao Bao Wan Summer Opal Beauty Powder // $28.00. This is described as a light bronze with golden shimmer. While very pretty this gave off very little color on the cheeks, which surprised me because based off the swatch I expected more. It ends up being a subtle highlight shade.

Bao Bao Wan Romantic Breakdown Lipstick // $17.50. This is described as a sheer nude lustre. Boring to some, but this is my favorite type of lip to wear daily, so I can never have enough. The other lipsticks in this collection are very vivid with a matte finish.

In the look below I’m wearing Bao Bao’s Jewels on my eyes (brass on the lid, bronze in the crease, icy pink at the inner corners, steel blue smudged under the lower lash line) with MAC Grain Eyeshadow used to blend it all out and highlight. The liner is MAC Teddy Eye Kohl and the mascara is Benefit Roller Lash. I used only Summer Opal Beauty Powder on my cheeks and Romantic Breakdown Lipstick on my lips.

    I like OPI, China Glacé and Wet n Wild but honestly can’t tell a difference in them. I haven’t used Zoya, Mac, Essie or any other high end brand I don’t think.

    Hmmmm. That is SUCH a hard question.. my favorites are generally based on what time of year it is. Lately I’ve been using a slate grey Julep polish a TON (not sure of the name), but for any other time of year I love Essie’s French Affair!

    Sunset Tourmaline nail polish is beautiful!!!! *—* The color reminds the Blue Brown MAC pigment (that I love) but for nails. I totally want to get this nail polish! <3 <3 <3

    I love using any polish from Nailtini , Mentality, Morgan Taylor or Barielle. With these polishes, the pigments are rich, the polish lasts a long time and the high quality really shows.

    I love Rimmel 60 Second nail polishes as they’re great for when you’ve forgotten paint your toes, and you’re literally about to head out for the night. Essie is another great brand, but takes a lot longer to dry.

      I love the polishes! The lipstick reminds me of a lipstick that came out with an old summer collection… I think it was to the beach or something. I’m going to have to check my stash. It is pretty nonetheless
