The first MAC collection of the year is usually a very wearable, very neutral one. This year brings the MAC Lightness of Being Collection which is full of colorful, yet sheer shades. I love the imprints on the products themselves which resemble a sewing pattern or the lines on a wool sweater. The outer packaging is a little more chic than the usual black casings we see from MAC even on these Mineralize products. It’s definitely durable, too.. I dropped the eye shadows several times (terrified each time that I’d be cleaning up shadow dust for days) and everything stayed in tact.
Mineralize Eye Shadow ($22.00 each // Nordstrom). Six shades of Mineralize Eye Shadows were released in this collection and I’m sharing two with you today in Leap (shimmery lavender purple) and Just Breathe (shimmery light blue). Half is pearly, half is frost – both are pretty sheer and sparkly. I recommend using them in conjunction with other shades that are more pigmented. Alone they just didn’t do it for me.
Mineralize Skinfinish ($32.00 each // Nordstrom). Two shades of Mineralize Skinfinish were released in this collection and the one I’m sharing with you today is Lightscapade (shimmery pale peach with lavender marble). Lightscapade is everyone’s old favorite in terms of MAC highlighters. I remember back in the day when these would fetch over $100 on ebay! Needless to say, I’m glad they’ve been repromoting it quite a bit so everyone can get a chance to try out and hoard this beautiful shade. It’s one of my favorites overall for highlighting and adds a nice, subtle glow to your look.
Mineralize Blush ($27.00 each // Nordstrom). Two shades of Mineralize Blush were released in this collection and the one I’m sharing with you today is Please Yourself (light pink with plum marble). Though this blush swatches heavily pigmented it sheers out nicely adding a glowing, not glittery effect. The color is buildable and lasts around 6 hours. I’m wearing two coats of this blush in the look below.
Mineralize Glass ($22.00 // Nordstrom). Five shades of Mineralize Glass were released in this collection and I have three to share with you in On Cue (gold pearl), Poetic (pale champagne pink with pearl) and Boundless Energy (violet pink). These are all extremely sheer with On Cue and Poetic adding just a hint of sparkle. Though they’re sheer the formula is smooth and feels moisturizing on the lips making these nice to wear over lipstick or to refresh your lips as needed.
For the look below I’m wearing Just Because Mineralize Eye Shadow over the lid over top of Urban Decay Primer Potion. The dark half is on the lid and the lighter half is applied starting at the inner corners and working in. The liner is Lollipops Goodbye Moon Eye Pencil smudged out and the mascara is Urban Decay Perversion. Please Yourself Mineralize Blush is on my cheeks highlighted by Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish. Boundless Energy Mineralize Glass is all that I have on my lips.
If you’re interested in what I wear in terms of the other makeup it’s the products from IT Cosmetics mentioned here (but in the pic below I’m wearing the shade Light because the Medium in that post was much too dark for me). Brows are IT Cosmetics Your Brows But Better Brow Power Skinny Pencil and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.
There are also two MAC Studio Nail Lacquer ($12.00 // Bloomingdale’s) shades within this collection in Lightness of Being (pale beige) and Modern Movement (pale lavender // shown below). In the case of Modern Movement I’m loving the shade itself and it painted on very well becoming fully opaque in two coats.

Did you try applying the e/s wet? they look so sheer
Kath TheFabZilla recently posted..Rockin’ Neutrals Feat. Paula’s Choice The Nude Mattes
I didn’t and they are extremely sheer. Generally I don’t ever apply shadows wet. On the MAC site they didn’t say wet/dry (even tho I know MES usually is) so I passed on it. My OCD doesn’t generally allow me to muss a pretty thing LMAO but if it’s a sample and the site or release says do eeeet then I will. It does say the color is buildable… but it still looked shimmery sheer to me.
Ohhhhhh, the eyeshadows are stunning!
Lightscapade is LIFE! It’s so gorgeous
RIGHT?!
Very pretty collection. I haven’t been in a MAC store in forever but I’m obviously missing some great new items.

Every time I see this collection I think of Milan Kundera’s book, The Unbearable Lightness of Being. And it was anything but a light book! The collection reminds me of cotton candy, and it is very pretty on you!

OH! Modern Movement looks awesome on you! It makes your hands look tan. I wish it were flattering on me. I had to return mine, it fell flat against my skintone. 🙁 such a pretty color.
Thank you! I didn’t think I’d like it on but it’s my new fave!
