The December Birchbox was soooo much better than November. It wasn’t like I fell off of my chair like the month I got the full-size beautyblender, but it’s more on point with what I expect from a monthly beauty subscription service. The December theme is Decked Out and it’s filled with beauty samples to get you through the holidays and into the now New Year!
As you open the box the card resting on top gives you a little explanation and greeting on one side and a run down of what is in your box on the other side.
From Acure Organics, Lip Lush – Shmexy. First off, I love the shade name. Hue wise it’s sheer but nicely moisturizing (it’s argan oil-infused) and the taste reminds me of apples.
From Dr. Jart+, Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm. This balm had medium coverage and a little goes a long way. The shade they sent me was a little light even for my pale winter skin but I did like the formula
From Mirenesse, iCurl Secret Weapon 24hr Mascara. This mascara was wonderful in terms of curl and shape, but I also like my mascara to give off volume and length. A full-size is $29 and for that amount I’d need to be wowed off of my seat… particularly since my fave mascara is only $5 at CVS (Milani Total Lash Cover).
From RUSK, Texture Spray. This comes frequently in the samples boxes I subscribe to and I LOVE IT. This couldn’t have come at a better time either because the nozzle broke on the last one I had. I use this to amp up my flat roots and give my hair shape without looking or feeling crunchy.
From SeaRX, Anti-Wrinkle Facial Lift Treatment Serum. This product says it uses dead sea minerals and potent hydrators to fight fine lines and wrinkles. With the small sample size provided I can’t speak to it’s effectiveness towards the claims but a little does go a long way and it made my skin feel smooth. The sample tube was nearly empty when I first tried it. I barely got two uses out of it, so that was disappointing.
This month Birchbox also included a $10 coupon to use for the Gap… which I didn’t see until I took the photos on January 1st and it was a day after it expired. I’d have totally used it, too. My fault for not peeking right away.
This month’s Birchbox shipment was definitely one of the better ones. My favorite item was the Rush Texture Spray because it’s an HG of mine and I’ll take all I can get – plus the $10 Gap coupon was fantastic. KICKING myself for not seeing that.
The thing Birchbox really has going above all the rest is their rewards/referral system which gives you 10 points per review and 50 points per referral. When you get 100 points it equals $10 to spend in their shop – which is FULL of greatness. This month’s box was worth the $10 and I’m excited to see what they have in store for their service in 2015.
Wanna sign up for Birchbox? (Click for referral) If you like what you see in this post go to the website and fill out the form. It’s just $10 a month (free shipping too!) and you get some cool stuff, tho I will warn you, you’re going to get stuff you hate as well. After it’s all said and done throughout the year you do get your money’s worth.
***Disclosure – I buy my own Birchbox, but the links posted here do give me referral points which I can use towards product on the site. Once you sign up for your own Birchbox, you’ll also get a referral code to send out to others and get some points of your own!

I used to use Mirenesse mascara all the time. I’ve graduated but I’d be happy to see it in a subscription box.

Seems like Birchbox has really stepped their game up. I’m considering signing up for it again after seeing the last few boxes!

I love Acure Organics. I’ve only ever used their skin and hair products though!
