Easy Holiday Look w/ COVERGIRL #GirlsCan + Giveaway

November 14, 2014

Sponsored Post

Did you ever think “I just can’t do that”? We all have. It’s okay to think you can’t, but after you have your can’t moment, know that you can. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the time, money or network to do the things you need or want to do, there is support there. Even if you think you physically have no one there is a strength inside of yourself that will push you through anything. Any obstacle. You CAN do it. For example, blogging. In particular beauty blogging. The niche is so saturated and I’m no spring chicken (for you youngin’s that means I’m old), so it’s easy to shrink back and think “I absolutely can’t compete with this”. But then I look around at all of the bloggers that inspire me. Some are younger (like Michelle Phan and Bethany Mota) and some are a little older (like Cafe Makeup and Best Things in Beauty) but when you see all that they’ve accomplished it’s inspiring. Every other blogger inspires me to try new things, break out of my box and help others do the same. Beautiful women and men that CAN (aka all of you) inspire me to be the best person and blogger I can be. Which just means being me (or you being you!). Relax and enjoy yourself. Stress is the enemy. Once I can roll like Elsa and let it go, I can achieve more and my productivity level is through the roof. Success, I am in you.

COVERGIRL has developed the #GirlsCan campaign which promotes the empowerment of women by encouraging them to break down barriers and turn “can’t” into “can”. COVERGIRL is doing their part and bringing awareness by donating $50,000 to Dress for Success®, which is a not-for-profit organization that helps disadvantaged women find jobs by providing professional clothing, support and career development tools. COVERGIRL #GirlsCan mascaras come in 2 varieties at Walmart everyday low prices: COVERGIRL Flamed Out Mascara and COVERGIRL Professional All-in-One Mascara. Below I’ve created a holiday look using the COVERGIRL Professional All-in-One Mascara. I hope you enjoy it and that it will inspire you to create your own looks supporting #GirlsCan.

Quick Holiday Makeup

I always like to start with the eyes. In this case I chose the COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers in 224 Prom Queen. The shades are more fierce than just the general smokey colors (blacks and browns) and I thought it looked fun! I started with a base of COVERGIRL Bombshell Shine Shadow in 320 Ooh La Lilac and smoothed it all over the lid and blending it up through the crease using my finger. Next I took a firm shadow brush and applied the light minty grey shade (third from the left) all over the inner half of the lid. Using the same brush (opposite side) I applied the deep maroon shade all over the outer half of the lid, blending into the other lid color. Using a blending brush I swept the green shade above the crease and blended up. The pinky beige shade (first on the left) was used to highlight. I also mixed the maroon and pinky beige shades and applied under the outer third of the lower lash line.

Next I lined the top lid with the COVERGIRL Bombshell Intensity Liner in 805 Chocolate Kiss. I did a slight wing, so depending on what you like this can obviously be played up more or toned down.

COVERGIRL Professional 3-in-1 Mascara Swatches #GirlsCan

To finish off the eyes I applied three coats of COVERGIRL Professional 3-in-1 Mascara in 200 Very Black.

COVERGIRL #GirlsCan 2

For the face I took the COVERGIRL Instant Cheekbones Contouring Blush in 220 Purely Plum. The deepest shade is applied at the hollows of the cheeks, the medium shade is on the apples of the cheeks and blended in with the deep shade and the lightest shade was dusted just above the cheekbone area.

To round out the look I applied COVERGIRL Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in 255 all over my lips.

COVERGIRL 225 Jumbo Gloss Balm Swatches

I don’t know why it is, but a fabulous mascara and a glossy lip always make me feel more confident. Maybe it’s because the mascara makes the eyes look bigger and a slight shine to the lips makes them appear more plump. In any case, always know that great things are ahead. Do you and know that YOU CAN.

Personal empowerment involves developing the confidence and strength to set realistic goals and fulfil your potential. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses and a range of skills that are used in everyday situations, but all too often people remain unaware of, or undervalue, their true abilities. I have always wanted to be like my mother, strong and wise,so she empowers me to be the person i am today!
