October 2014 Birchbox Swatches, Review & Photos

October 22, 2014

The theme for the October 2014 Birchbox is Fanfare. This month’s Birchbox ended up being really great because of one item in particular. The cost of said item more than made up for last month’s box and then some.

October 2014 Birchbox

As you open the box the card resting on top gives you a little explanation and greeting on one side and a run down of what is in your box on the other side.

From beautyblender, beautyblender + deluxe solid cleanser. This is a full sized beautyblender with a sample of the solid cleanser. I’m always happy to have a second one of these because they really do make your face makeup apply flawlessly. The more I have, the more I can go in between washings. #LazyGirl. The retail of this product is $26, way more than the $10 that the box cost this month.

From Camille Beckman, Tuscan Honey Glycerine Hand Therapy. The little sample pot is so cute with the little flower on top! As good as this feels to use it’s way too fragrant for me and I had to wash it right off… which defeats the purpose of a hand therapy lol. If fragrance is your thing (it’s like a floral honey scent) then you’ll love this.

From dr. brandt, pores no more vacuum cleaner. No, this is not an actual vacuum cleaner (though I’d welcome that as well). This is a pore de-gunker mask that diminishes blackheads. As much as I am tired of getting skincare in these boxes I love this product and am so happy I got the chance to try it. I’m definitely picking up a full size when I’m all out of the sample.

From Harvey Prince, Petaly Noir. I’m not going to beat around the bush – this smells horrendous. I sprayed it once yesterday and I can STILL smell it. It’s definitely overloaded on jasmine and just way too heady. I wish Birchbox had a form where you can check off the scents you don’t like so you don’t get stuck with something that you know you’ll loathe. =\

From Lord & Berry, Paillettes Glitter Eye Pencil in Black. I got a liner from this brand back in my August ipsy bag and really liked it. That one was a kohl and this one touts glitter, which I’m not a fan of, especially around my eyes. However this could be fun to play with for Halloween. Like in the ipsy bag, it’s the mini-est of all mini liners.

This month’s Birchbox shipment was wonderful, and that’s all because of the beautyblender. Well, and also the dr. brant, because I really love that mask. Without that, I wouldn’t have been a happy camper. This was obviously worth the $10 and I hope they keep up the trend when it comes to November!

Wanna sign up for Birchbox?  (Click for referral) If you like what you see in this post go to the website and fill out the form.  It’s just $10 a month (free shipping too!) and you get some cool stuff, tho I will warn you, you’re going to get stuff you hate as well.

***Disclosure – I buy my own Birchbox, but the links posted here do give me referral points which I can use towards product on the site.  Once you sign up for your own Birchbox, you’ll also get a referral code to send out to others and get some points of your own!

The Beauty Blender alone makes it a great box! I also liked the Lord & Berry pencil I got in August, so I’d like a fun glittery liner for the holidays. I’m laughing about your description of the fragrance you got

That sucks about the overly fragrant items – that hand therapy sounds like it would be right up my alley! 🙁
