Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette Swatches, Review + EOTD

Generally you won’t see a lot of Smashbox on Blushing Noir. In the past I seemed to have a love/hate relationship with the products. Even so when new things would launch I’d still play around at Ulta and Sephora. This last time I fell in lust with the new Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette. After the first time I used this palette that lust feeling quickly turned into true love.

Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette Review

The packaging is plastic, but secure and sturdy. A small latch in the front keeps everything closed tight. The only thing I’m not a fan of is that in order to “get the look” or see the names of the shades you have to peel off the sticker on the back and it ends up getting stuck to you or getting fuzz balls on it. After awhile it won’t stick anymore. I’d rather have something like a small card to look off of.

Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette shades

The Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette contains eight eye shadows in Bare (matte shell), Unadorned (shimmering taupe w/ a hint of khaki), Shell (metallic tan), Rustic (satin bordeaux), Oxidize (a light, pink burgundy metallic), Topaz (shimmering light taupe grey), Dark Cocoa (blackened brown matte) and Ebony (matte black). I was so impressed with the quality of these shadows. They were soft and pigmented, applying smoothly to the eye and lasting all day long. I don’t think I’ve ever used a palette from Smashbox that I could say that about every single shade. I also swatched Smashbox Violetta Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner because I used it in the look. I ended up purchasing a few more of them as well (to be reviewed) because I really enjoyed the formula!

In the eye look below I used UDPP as a base and applied Unadorned all over the lid. Rustic was blended in through the crease, Shell was used to blend out the crease. Topaz was placed at the inner corners and a bit above Shell. Bare was used to highlight. Smashbox Violetta Always Sharp 3D Waterproof Kohl Liner was used to line the top and bottom lashes and I smudged a bit of Oxidize mixed with Rustic underneath that. The mascara is Milani Total Lash Cover.

I’ve been lemming this palette but I’m worried it might skew too warm on me personally.
