Hidden amongst the Simpsons and Novel Romance Collections MAC also released a smaller scale collection called Artificially Wild. I loved the promo photos for this one (because I love me some camo print) and was really intrigued by the collection because it seemed like the perfect shades for Fall but in a muted form. Not so vampy, still nude-plummy yet work-safe wearable.
The Eye Shadows ($16.00 each). Four shades were released, all in a satin finish. In my experience the satin finish can be hit or miss. One of my all time favorite eye shadows from MAC is a satin (Grain) but I’ve met with a few duds from time-to-time. I’m happy to report the two shades I tried from Artificially Wild, Marsh (soft, dirty olive green) and Artificial Earth (soft, mauve nude), are wonderful in terms of pigment, application and wear. I’m really obsessed with Artificial Earth. It’s that perfect shade that’s nude but with a kick that you can wear alone or in any look you can think of.
The Blushes ($22.00 each). Three shades were released and I have two to share with you today in Pink Cult (mid-tone dirty neutral pink) and Taupe (soft, beige brown). All three blushes have a matte finish and I found that Pink Cult and Taupe wear beautifully and have excellent pigment. This is usually the case with MAC Matte Blushes, so not news to MAC fans, I’m sure 😉 Both shades are repromotes.
The Lipsticks ($16.00 each). Of the five lipstick shades released I just have one to share with you in Siss. Siss is described as a muted golden beige and has a satin finish (which I love). You may recognize it as being part of the permanent collection.

I bought the three blushes and the Explicit Lipgloss. I love everything except the Next to Skin blush. I’m very fair, and it was so light, I couldn’t get it to show up on me at all. I thought it a bit dry, too. The other two, I love. I think Pink Cult is very natural looking on, and taupe makes a wonderful matte, non-sparkly contour for my skin. The explicit lip gloss is just drop-dead-gorgeous no matter what you do with it. I think the lip colors are OK, but none “wow” me. I think the eye colors are really ugly.
