It is so gorgeous outside. The clear blue skies and beautiful weather make for a seriously inspiring atmosphere for nail art. Because neon shades are so big this year (welcome back, 80’s! I missed you… not really but I did love me some neons back then so they’re okay to come back now) I wanted to create some nail art love and keep with the spring nail trends by shopping Walgreens for my new nail color. Particularly from the recently released Essie Too Taboo collection!
Walgreens has a ton of beautiful nail shades for Spring like the Essie neons, which you can shop for in-store or online. While you’re there you can pick up all of the tools you will need to get your Spring worthy mani or pedi at home!
I couldn’t decide on which shades I wanted to create my Spring manicure so I ended up bringing home five different Essie nail polishes – Mojito Madness, Play Date, I’m Addicted, Too Taboo and Serial Shopper. They just all looked so beautiful sitting there and the names are adorable! They called to me, you guys!
I laid down the base for the look by coating my nails with Essie Serial Shopper. This polish leans toward the sheer side so you’ll want two coats. Do not add a top coat yet. Wait for it to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Now that your nails are dry get out your nail striping tape and a little bit of patience (unless you lay down tape all the time in which case you’re already a pro). I say patience because it’s harder than it looks to place that tape perfectly so that it’s even on both sides. Do note, however, that even if it’s a bit off, it’s not really that noticeable to anyone but you.
Finally take another shade of nail polish (for this I rotated the other four shades of Essie nail polish that I bought) and paint inside the triangle. Immediately after you paint pull off the tape (I use tweezers to get a good grip on the end).
(the order of the nail polishes shown above are (L-R) I’m Addicted, Mojito Madness, Too Taboo & Play Date over Serial Shopper)
Once the nail polish dries add the top coat. You won’t want to do a top coat immediately because you don’t want to smear the nail polish and ruin all of your hard work. All done! You can leave it like I did above or if you’re super fancy trace along the triangles with another shade. For that you need a steady hand and a thin nail brush.
What are your favorite Spring Nail Trends?

Very cute! You can also use clear or Washi tape to outline the triangles if you don’t have striping tape, or you don’t want to be so careful on the edges. Great job!
