I can’t believe it’s finally April! I thought March would never end! Because I have better weather and a good time on the mind I decided to try a look I’ve always been interested in that is again wildly popular – mod. When I think of a mod beauty look I immediately think of Rimmel for #BeautyInspiration. Because of their recent Retro Glam campaign I wanted to Go Big. Go Bold. Go Over the Top. I had a few of the items I needed at home, and I went to Walmart and purchased the others – including a new tube of one of my personal favorite drugstore mascaras. (In honor of this month being RIMMEL’s 180 year anniversary there will be a $1 off coupon in the Sunday newspaper for each of the the Retro Glam Mascara and Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation!)
That first pic shows quite a bit of product. But it all plays a necessary part in going Mod. Don’t worry, I’ll break it down so that it all makes sense 😉
To begin the Mod look you’ll want to start with the eyes (in case there is shadow fall-out or you mess up and need to start over you won’t have to mess up your gorgeous face that you spent all that time on!). Prep the lids with a primer of some sort. For this look I used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in Witness White.
Next, take your shadow brush of choice (I prefer a firm paddle type shadow brush for this) and apply the vintage lilac shade from the Rimmel Smokey Purple Glam’eyes Quad Eye Shadow (on the left of the compact in the pic above) all over the lid. Then, taking the Rimmel Smokey Noir Glam’eyes Quad Eye Shadow use the applicator provided and apply the matte black shade deeply above the crease. Use a blending brush with more of the matte black shadow to blend out the edges.
Now my favorite part! Use the Rimmel Scandaleyes Precision Micro Eyeliner in Black to get way into the inner corners of the upper lid of the eye. Take the line the whole way out to the end. Follow up with the Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner to thicken the outer part of the eye and create a wing at the end. Finally, go back to the Precision Micro Eyeliner and touch-up that inner-corner and also go below the lower lid and do up some Twiggy-esque lines. This is a great way to enlarge the eyes and add to the lower lashes without using falsies.
Next I used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Taupe to line the lower inner rim of the eyes. On top of that I added Rimmel Soft Kohl in Pure White. Finish off your eye look by filling in your brows and adding a mascara with some KAPOW. I added three coats of Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara in Carbon Black to the top and bottom lashes.
For the face I reached for Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in my shade (which is True Ivory) and applied all over the face for full, matte coverage. Next I took Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Celestial and dabbed it lightly on the cheeks, blending quickly for just a slight hint of nude color on the cheekbones.
For the lips I lined all around the edges with Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in Innocent. I topped off the lips with Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 113.
For this look I ventured towards the extremely smoky side of “Mod”. It might be too deep for some, or just right for others. It’s simple to tone it down by using less of the black shadow and not blending it up as high.

I love the look you did—I could never pull that off. My face would be a sooty mess! I’d probably do a very simple mod—white shadow with a light gray crease and black liquid liner all over with LOTS Of mascara!
I love the look you created, however I think I’m a little too chicken to do anything that bold. I tend to stick to more neutral and natural, with just a little pop of color here and there.
I started buying Rimmel and I really like everything I bought so far for the price!
I love the look you came up with.
I’d like to create a 60s mod Twiggy look.
I’m loving the purple this spring so I would like to try the purple smokey eye
I’d love to create a very feminine, soft innocent look – like something you might wear on your wedding day.
I’d keep it simple.
I want to try a natural eye with a bold lip.
I would use Rimmel for a bold summer look with corals and oranges.
I need to learn to perfect the smoky eye look.
I like to keep my makeup looks simple and natural, so a good foundation and mascara for me! Thanks for the giveaway!
Your look is such a perfect take on a classic! I cant wait to find these Rimmel products and try it out. #client

You captured mod pretty well. Yes, I am old enough to have seen it, the first time around. I was a little kid… But I remember it. Okay, I’m going to grab my walker and totter away, now. LOL
But before I go, may I just say, in no Wal-Mart ANYWHERE have I ever seen a cosmetics display look that neat, well stocked and clean. That has to be a freak of PR nature because that just doesn’t happen in the wild.

Thank you! Also, you don’t even WANT to know what is drawn on some of the other displays LMAO This Wal-Mart is pretty clean in general, though.
I would do a winged eyeliner, more a pin up style look with that amazing eyeliner, you did great with your look!

I love the retro glam pin up girl look that Taylor Swift does so well. That is the look I want to do.
Hi! Pretty look!! I would create a bold purple eye with a nude lip. Thanks!
Something Twiggy-esque for sure. When I think of Rimmel London and Mod that’s instantly who I think of.
So it would be all focused on the eyes; a deep, dark cut-crease, I’d use Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Black and to create the cut crease and create a minimal and neutral eye shadow look using the Glam’Eyes Eyeshadow Quad in Brick Lane.
A whole lotta lash top AND bottom is a must for the eyes and I’d use Rimmel Scandaleyes Extreme Black Mascara for blacker than black lashes with.
Another must would be eye liner, again applied to both top AND bottom lash lines and I’d use Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Eyeliner for a super black, stay-put finish.
Now, you don’t want to close up the eyes with too much black so, I’d instantly create doe-eyes with a simple sweep of Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kajal in Nude along the waterlines to complete this eye look.
For the face, it’s got to be Matte for my look – Rimmel Stay Matte Primer followed with Stay Matte Foundation will ensure that. neutral, barely there cheek, Rimmel’s Soft Color Blush in Madiera would be perfect and deep contour using Rimmel’s Natural Bronzer to create chiseled, Twiggy-like cheeks.
To completed my look I’d go with a nude, matte lip using Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipstick in shade #113 and outline the lips with the Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in shade 030 Natural.
