The title sounds pretty scandalous. It’s February… the month of lurrrveeeee. Because talking about love in the usual sense is played out this month, I’m going to talk to you about some product love. My love affair with Skin Care. Kate Somerville Skin Care, to be exact.
It all started early last year. For moisturizer I’d been using another brand (brand X) for a long time. Since high school – so at least 15 years. Never had issues with break outs, ever. Well, long story short, having kids changes you and completely whacks on your hormone levels. I had this horrible cystic acne… painful stuff… on my jaw line and chin. A few things worked to keep it at bay, but I always went back to high school brand X as a moisturizer because it was familiar.
Finally, one day at the mall, I’d had it. I went into Sephora, said HELP NOW and the in store skin care specialist (idk if they really have those, but that’s how I was introduced to her lol) introduced me to Kate Somerville. I knew about the brand (who hasn’t heard of ExfoliKATE?!) but hadn’t thought it would be for me. She swore up and down about the Anti-Bac Acne Treatment Lotion. She’s right, it’s wonderful and worked quickly.
One problem. It didn’t provide anywhere near enough moisture. I did some research online on what people liked to pair with this and ended up ordering the Kate Somerville Oil-Free Moisturizer to use in the evenings. These two items plus using ExfoliKATE once a week has been wonderful for my skin. I do use other skin care products from time to time for testing purposes, especially masks because I’m crazy for them… I may cheat on you, Kate, but I always come back!

Both my sisters had amazing skin after they had kids… I don’t have any kids but I do have cystic acne and it’s awful. I need to try these products!

Recently I purchased Skinceuticals Rentinol 1.0 for my mature (said with sadness) skin. I am fortunate that I decided against the 0.50 which has less strength. My goal was to soften my skin, balance the tones in my skin and hopefully soften a couple of small scars. While I often lose track of time, it’s been close to one month that I’ve been using this product. By the grace of the Make Up Queen, my skin is looking great: softer, smoother and clearer. It would be fantastic to turn back time while keeping my knowledge of life. But since this can’t be, I am happy to have younger looking skin. I recommend this Rentinol to a person looking to peel away damage. Just remember I went with the stronger dosage as I felt my skin could handle it well, and it does. However if your skin is sensitive, try to 0.50. BTW, after I purchased this product, I was happy to find that it is listed as one of the better skin peeling potions. Peace Out!

Nice! Thank you for the tip! I love the Future Derm Time Release Retinol. It’s 0.5 and I can only do it about every other day.

Ok, I sheepishly raise my hand and say, I have never heard of ExfoliKATE, LMAO! Now I’m curious! I feel like I hop around skincare products so much, trying to find somethign that really will, totally seriously THIS TIME help my rosacea. I will have ot check out this line next time I’m in Sephora and see if they cater to calmness/redness solutions/sensitive skin. Also – my love is lippies <3

I also had really awful cystic acne when I was pregnant. I don’t get it any more, thankfully, but for awhile it was really bad. It made me feel so awful about myself! I’m glad you found something that worked for you – my dermatologist was no help at all!
