Well today is the last day of January and I’m finally getting around to posting this months ipsy Glam Bag! Where did the time go?!
The theme for the January 2014 ipsy Glam Bag is 19 Reasons 2014 Will Be Amazing.
What you see above is a blue bag decorated with outlines of different beauty items. Not probably something I’d purchase on my own, but this is a beauty subscription service, so it’s fitting. A fail, though, was this smelled plastic-y… like shades of Glam Bags past.
The card is basically there to give you the run down of the discounts you can get by visiting the Glam Room on ipsy.com. As usual, there are a ton of fabulous deals.
What’s inside?
From Proactiv+, Mark Fading Pads. These pads are essentially for removing dead skin cells to show off smoother and more even-toned skin. They’re also for fading out any dark marks on the face left by acne and reducing fine lines and pores. I’m so happy to try these out. I always hear about Proactiv and how well it works for people, so it’ll be interesting to see what these pads can do. I have a few dark marks left from some kid-related hormonal acne that I’d LOVE to see gone!
From Épicé, Purifying Exfoliant. This product worked well and got the job done in terms of removing dead skin cells and leaving my skin smooth. I liked it, but not enough to replace my Kate Somerville Exfolikate.
From Briogeo, Don’t Despair, Repair!™ Deep Conditioning Mask. I love getting hair masks in any of the subscription bags/boxes. I use these like no ones business once a week on my hair because hair needs the added nourishment, especially colored hair like mine! This mask has a fresh scent and is a great way to help keep your hair in shape.
From MicaBeauty, Tinted Lip Balm. I got the shade #5 Natural. Aside from this lip balm being in a pot (I’m sort of a germaphobe like that) I love it. The formula is light and smooth and the color is this nude mauve shade that I reach for constantly. (swatched below). It’s not really good if you’re looking for heavy or long-term moisture, but it’s great for a subtle tint and light shine.
From Yaby, Foundation. The shade I received is in Buff. I’m all for trying a new foundation but this is hard to do with subscription services because they rarely match my skin tone. This one was a little too yellow for me. Even-so I thought the formula to be slightly watery and not really fabulous on coverage. If you don’t need coverage and prefer a bare look, you’ll like this.
Even though this wasn’t my favorite month it certainly hasn’t been the worst. The contents of this bag was definitely worth the $10 so I am absolutely in for February.
Ipsy does profile pages now, so here is mine. There is also a pretty amazing referral program in place. You refer friends and redeem points to get a sweet little bonus in your next bag. I’ve gotten some really fab full sized products as my bonuses, but, something new, you can use your points to choose your own bonus! I cashed in back in November for a full size NYX Cosmetics Bronze Smokey Look Kit (see photos and swatches here). Soooo go sign up because you’re missing out!
Here is where you can go to subscribe to ipsy for a Glam Bag.
What do you think about the January Glam Bag? Are you going to subscribe for February? I know I’m looking forward to my next bag!
