This may come as a shock to some of you, but I LOVE to clip coupons. I always have! I remember when I was little I used to sit there with the ads and clip every single coupon out, even if it was for cat food… and we never owned a cat. This was the 80’s and way before the binders of extreme couponers, so our storage solution was a huge shoebox. Here’s the part that won’t be a shock… I always forget them at home. What the heck is the point in all that coupon clipping when you don’t even bring them to the store?! I still clip, I still forget, even 20-some years later. Old habits die hard, I guess. Target got into my head while I was either sleeping or having a pre-senior moment and developed an awesome app for people like me. Cartwheel is an app for your desktop, tablet, mobile web (iPhone or Android) that has over 700 offers (read: coupons) on in-store purchases. If you’re using on your phone all you need to do is scan the barcode on an item in-store and it will immediately tell you if that item has an offer. Each barcode generated by Cartwheel is unique to you and holds all of the offers on your Cartwheel list. All you need to do is simply scan the barcode one time at the point of purchase (after scanning any other coupons, discounts, etc.) and all the discounts on your list will be applied! Easily sign up with your Facebook info to see what your friends are buying. Don’t worry, if for some reason you want to use an offer for something secret simply make your list private and it won’t post publicly. For your eyes only! If you don’t have Facebook you can also sign up with your Target login information (email). Okay, all of you extreme couponers… this is for you – yes you can stack coupons and discounts (use Cartwheel with any other Target discounts or coupons, manufacturers’ coupons and REDcard discount) and also take advantage of multi-use offers (restrictions: limit of 4 items per offer, per transaction; limit of 6 Cartwheel scans per day). Another fun aspect of Cartwheel is earning badges (which makes this all the more addicting for me). Badges are awarded for reaching savings milestones ($10, $25, $50, etc.), interacting with Cartwheel (adding an offer to your list), and via social sharing (an invited friend who joins Cartwheel). For each badge that is earned, a new spot on your Cartwheel list is opened (each guest starts with 10 spots on their list. More spots are earned when badges are awarded). They also offer Cartwheel collections which are curated lists of offers that make it easy for you to add items to your list on-the-go. The collections are created to support seasonal offerings and categorical offers (grocery, women’s apparel, baby items, etc.). Collections are not comprehensive lists of all offers. No more clipping, no more storing, no more saving scraps of paper in a shoebox… ahhhh… organization and de-cluttering makes me crazy happy. Comment below and tell me what products you’d use Cartwheel the most on to earn an automatic entry into a random drawing for a $1000 Target GiftCard®!
