Dior Holiday launches are always my favorites. No one does a gold shadow like Dior, which is evident in this Top 10 Gold Eyeshadows to Lust Over post that I did recently, and Holiday is usually when they pull out all the stops and produce a 5 Couleur or two to rock our gold-loving world.
The Holiday 2013 Golden Winter Collection is no exception to this, and we’re lucky enough to get two amazing palettes with this launch – Golden Flower and this post of Golden Snow.
What Nordstrom says about the Dior 5 Couleurs – Golden Winter Holiday Look Eyeshadow Palette:
Dior’s best-selling eye palette offers endless possibilities with two new limited-edition harmonies of shimmering gold, pink and bronze tones.
Beauty tip: Use the oval wand to apply the lightest shade to the upper part of the inner eyelid, then blend the darkest shade along the lash line. Shade the outer brow with one of the remaining colors. For more intensity, use a fourth color under the lashes.
Starting off with my favorite, the mauve… how gorgeous is that shade?! It’s so gorgeous it should really be in every palette, but I digress. It’s got great pigment, is crazy soft and blendable… perfection. The pale pink shade looks chalky, but it’s actually also got a light frost, making it soft and easy to work with. Though not ripe with pigment, it makes an excellent base for it’s sister shades. The blackened charcoal shade applies on the light side when used dry, but blends in well with the other colors and almost looks navy when worn on the eye. It would make such a good liner for eye looks with this palette! With the gold and center white shade you won’t get a whole lot of pigment (unless you use them wet, then prepare for frost). I didn’t experience a ton of fall-out, maybe a minor amount with the charcoal shade.
With this EOTD I primed the lid with Urban Decay Primer Potion and began by applying the upper left pale pink shade all over from lash line to brow. The lower left metallic mauve shade is in the crease and blended up with the bottom right blackened charcoal shade at the outer V and blended inward. I took the upper right gold sparkle shade and patted it lightly at the center of the lid and placed the center white frost shade at the inner corners. The eyeliner is Neutrogena Brushed Pewter Nourishing Eye Liner and the mascara is Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam.
