Top 10 Palettes can be such a broad subject. After all, there are so many! For this post, I want to take you back. We’re talking old school-ish. To the palettes you may have forgotten about, but that still hold a special place in your heart.
- Midnight Hour Eye Shadow Palette. This was from the Disney Reigning Beauties Collection from Sephora, the Cinderella Edition. While all of the princess collections were to die for, this particular palette was probably my fave. I reach for it quite a bit when I want something understated but not too boring. Word is these collections are over… but I really hope minds change and we see more.
- Le Metier de Beaute Mélange de Colour Fashion Eyeshadow Palette. This palette is the end-all-be-all of LMdB products. 18 high quality shadows all in one place. Countless looks can be created and it’s travel friendly to boot!
- Le Metier de Beaute Bauhaus Kaleidoscope Eye Kit. When these shades blend together in the signature Couches de Couleur application technique it makes the perfect taupe. So, of course it’s one of my faves! Love this one for holiday!
- Le Metier de Beaute Penelope Kaleidoscope Eye Kit. Penelope was my first eye kit from LMdB and remains one of my go-to fave palettes to this day. Every time I go somewhere, it travels with me. Every time I’m at a loss for what to do with my look, I reach for Penelope. She’s from 2011 but she’s like a best friend that I’ll never let leave my side!
- Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows. Well, if this isn’t a blast from the past I don’t know what is. This one takes us back to 2010. Back to which was, IMO, the very best thing Urban Decay ever released. It doesn’t even matter that the shades weren’t “new” shades. They had new, theme appropriate names and the artwork was incredible.
- Tarte for True Blood Eyeshadow Palette. Of course True Blood fans lost their damn minds when this collection came out in 2011. You could transform yourself via looks into your favorite True Blood characters and perhaps attract your own Eric Northman. Or Bill Compton, but not the Bill Compton from last season… you’re better than that.
- MAC Festive Frost Face Kit. I wish I reached for this more, because the shades are to die for, especially for the holiday season. This palette released with MAC Holiday 2011 and was a Nordstrom exclusive.
- MAC 5 Neutral Eyes Holiday Eye Kit. This one is only about a year old, releasing with Holiday 2012, but it creates the best smokey eye you’ve ever laid eyes on. You’re insane if you don’t love this.
- theBalm Nude ‘Tude Nude Eyeshadow Palette. I purchased this back in 2011, but it’s still available! The quality is amazing, but then… all theBalm shadows generally are. Countless looks to be created… it’s neutral with a kick!
- Illamasqua Complement Eye Shadow Palette. Complement is also only around a year old, but I adore the shades and the eye look they create together. It’s not a palette you’d think would be wearable for multiple occasions, but in these colder months it totally is.
Okay, so maybe some of these aren’t too old school. I feel like in the life of a beauty blogger we see so much that a year or two can feel old school. Also, the Urban Decay and Tarte palettes are from several years ago. Boom. Justified.

I gave a lot of love to Chanel in the golds lol I’m trying to show variety… if I’d have included my Chanel, Dior and Marc Jacobs we’d be in for a LONG post!

You made me think of so many I should have included like the Le Metier Melange and The Balm Nude’tude. I think I could do this challenge again. I’m also afraid it’s going to cost me big bucks tracking some of this down!

ahhhh, the Alice palette! I remember hesitating to buy it because I wasn’t sure I should spend the money, and then it was gone and I am still sad about it. :'(

Ah, I’ve been really, really wanting Penelope, and I’m so sad they don’t make it anymore. It’s really gorgeous and unique.
