Through my years as a makeup “collector” I managed to steer clear of Cle de Peau Beaute. It’s not to say I didn’t love everything I saw, but the pricing is higher than even Chanel and I just didn’t want to start a love affair with a new and very expensive brand. Until I saw Amanda Seyfried in the Fall 2013 La Beaute des Roses campaign wearing the Extra Rich Lipstick Velvet in 311.
What Neiman Marcus says about Cle de Peau Beaute Extra Rich Lipstick Velvet:
An elegant moisturizing lipstick that reflects the exquisite beauty of a rose. Infuses lips with luxurious color, texture, and skincare effects for a look of radiance like never before.
311 is an enchanting, warm cherry red. It’s got a moisturizing and luxe finish. The pigment is wonderful and the lipstick applies evenly, it’s that perfect red, especially for the impending holiday season.
My major.huge.gripe on this product – the lipstick is sold separately from the casing. The casing is meant to be refillable, but let’s be honest… who goes through lipstick that quickly, especially those of us that carry at least 16 different shades in their purse (I know I’m not alone there). What’s messed up, is that if you’re a CDP newbie like me, you’d never know the casing was sold separately. It’s not noted on the Neiman Marcus website under the “Fall Looks” but is on the general page for the Extra Rich Velvet Lipsticks. Luckily, NM caught it and emailed me about it, offering to ship the casing gratis, which is excellent customer service, but still makes for a way too expensive lippie.
Cle de Peau Beaute Extra Rich Lipstick Velvet retails for $40.00 for the lipstick and then you’ll purchase the casing for an extra $25.00. You can purchase both at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom.

The colors you have on are very beautiful and I may look into them this fall. I love their lipsticks so much better then there eye shadow sets because I find them to be too sparkly for me.

I have mixed feelings on separate casings. On the one hand, I definitely don’t want to pay extra for them – but on the other hand, if you can get away without buying it (and just keep the lipstick in the temporary casing), that can be a nice savings!

SUCH a cool lipstick shape- but def agree about selling casing separately…if it was a replaceable casing that was limited edition in order to replace a basic case, MAYBE…hahah
