With the success of the smallish launch that was RiRi Hearts MAC Summer 2013 (where we originally saw Hibiscus Kiss Powder Blush and RiRi Woo Lipstick) MAC would be remiss to not to go full out for Fall and collaborate with Rihanna again on a much larger collection (housed in beautiful mirrored pinked gold packaging)!
I previously reviewed Smoked Cocoa Eye Shadow x 4, which I received as a press sample, but I purchased Her Cocoa Eye Shadow x 4 myself, and it’s definitely the better of the two.
What Nordstrom says about MAC Her Cocoa Eye Shadow x 4:
Rihanna joins forces with M·A·C again to bring you the RiRi Hearts M·A·C collection, full of bold, beautiful colors for your lips, face and eyes. Her Cocoa eyeshadow quad features four warm shades of highly-pigmented powder formulated to apply evenly while blending and building beautifully.
Shades include:
– Bright Bronze Gold with a lustre finish
– Soft Peach with a satin finish
– Warm Antique Gold with a Veluxe pearl finish
– Chocolate Bronze with a lustre finish
Her Cocoa is an eyeshadow quad that is complete perfection for the warm toned. The shades don’t have actual names, but there’s a bright bronze gold lustre, a soft peach satin, a warm antique gold veluxe pearl and a chocolate bronze lustre. I must admit, I was shocked to read that this quad contained two lustres. The finish, pigment and quality are so amazing, and I’m just not used to that with a lustre shadow.
I have no negatives at all with this quad, it’s truly one of the best MAC has come out with. The pigment is great, the shades are easy to work with in terms of blendbility and formula. They don’t crease easily when used over primer and the shades can be mixed an matched to create day to night looks.
Below, for the EOTD, I primed the eye with Urban Decay Primer Potion. The warm antique gold is all over the lid, the chocolate bronze in the crease and outer V, the bright bronze gold at the inner corners and to blend out the crease and the soft peach was used for the brow bone/highlight. The outer third of the lower lash line also has some of the chocolate bronze underneath. For liners I used MAC Teddy Eye Kohl on the top and MAC Powersurge Eye Kohl on the bottom. The mascara is MAC Plushlash.
