Chanel 84 ACCENT Joues Contraste Powder Blush Swatches, Review & FOTD – Nuit Infinie de Chanel Holiday 2013

October 12, 2013

Perhaps the most sought after piece of a Chanel collection is the Joues Contraste Powder Blush (that is, if there isn’t some ridiculously gorgeous highlighting powder with an intricate pattern).  I remember way back before I started blogging I would read message boards about how amazing these blushes are.  Once I bought one I needed them all, and there was no turning back!

For the Nuit Infinie de Chanel Holiday 2013 Collection we have a new JC Blush to drool over in Accent.

Chanel 84 ACCENT Joues Contraste Powder BlushWhat Nordstrom says about Joues Contraste Powder Blush:

Unique powder blusher imparts a flattering radiance to cheeks. Remarkably silky texture for easy application and subtle shading. Accentuate cheekbones for a youthful look. Softer tones around the eyes soften expression and rejuvenate.

IMG_8832 IMG_8835 IMG_8837 IMG_8842 IMG_8863Chanel 84 ACCENT Joues Contraste Powder Blush SwatchesAccent is a lovely, neutral rose shade, with a slight hint of mauve.  There is a gold shimmer involved, but it’s no where near as apparent on the face as it is in swatches.

As usual the formula is amazing.  Soft, extremely pigmented, easily blendable and with a very vague rose scent that is customary with all JC Blushes.

These blushes are housed in plastic black casing with the white Chanel emblem and are stored in a velvet pouch.  A small brush is also included, but I’ve never liked those and they immediately get tossed or given to my daughter to play with.

For the look below (which I previewed on Instagram) I’m wearing Accent heavily on the cheeks.  Other Chanel products used are the Ligne Graphique de Chanel in Bronze, Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Initiation & Fatal, Aqua Crayon Lip Colour Stick in Red Brown and Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Reflexion.

IMG_8999I’ve heard this blush likened to Mocha JC, which I’ve had before.  It swatches similarly, but Accent definitely has more of a mauve tone to it, where Mocha wears more bronze.  Accent also has a golden sparkle, whereas Mocha is more of a satin finish with no visible sparkle.

Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush retails for $43.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave and chanel.com.

I just ordered this today. I’ve heard amazing things about it and this post made me even more excited to try it. I was debating between ordering this vs. Burberry’s Tangerine blush… I hope I made the right choice, lol.

Love this shade! I’m not sure the shimmer would work on my skin type though.

I find mauve blushes among the most natural-looking. This definitely gives a believable blush and the subtle shimmer seems to give the slightest bit of radiance, too
