Not only am I a huge fan of bronzes and burgundies, but I may be an even bigger fan of the Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadows. For the Holiday 2013 Nuit Infinie de Chanel Collection two new shades were released in Initiation and Fatal. Again, Chanel succeeds in reading my mind and making me so happy this holiday season =)
What Nordstrom says about Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow:
The intensely shimmering long-wear eyeshadow offers true versatility. An innovative gel texture that is both soft and cushiony allows it to be worn as an eyeshadow or eyeliner. Includes a specially designed shadow/liner brush, developed specifically for the unique formula.
(L-R: Initiation dry, Initiation wet; Fatal dry, Fatal wet – swatched with no primer underneath)
Initiation is a bronzed gold metallic shimmer. That perfect shade that can live on your eyes through any season and work with everything.
Fatal is a beautiful browned burgundy metallic shimmer. I seem to gravitate towards this shade during the holidays.
If you’ve been visiting here for awhile you know I adore the formula of the Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow. Initiation and Fatal are no exception. You can wear them alone (aka without a primer) and expect to get a full day of wear without fading or creasing. They work great as bases for shadows or even alone (as shown below). They don’t set immediately, which gives them time to blend well together yet still stay strongly anchored to your lid.
In the eye look below I simply used Initiation all over the lid and Fatal in the crease and outer V, then blended up. I used both shades dry, but to get the deep pigment on Fatal I pressed the shade in with the Make Up For Ever 204 Double-ended Shader & Smudger Brush and then blended with the MAC 226. I was also able to use the remaining product on the MUFE 204 to apply a bit of Fatal under the outer third of the lower lid. The liner is the Chanel Bronze Ligne Graphique de Chanel liquid liner.
Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow retails for $36.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave and chanel.com.
These look very nifty. I like that it can be used as a shadow or liner.
