The theme for the August 2013 GlossyBox is Bohemian Summer – focusing on the end of summer, where the GlossyBox philosophy is carpe diem! Seize the day and get in a final vacay or rendezvous with friends before the weather turns, and the products for this month will aid you in getting the look you desire.
Currently available in over 16 countries, GlossyBox has become known for their full sized products, high quality samples and prestigious brands such as NARS, Lancome, Laura Mercier, Tarte and more.
So, what is in the August 2013 GLOSSYBOX? Let’s check it out!
From Jelly Pong Pong, the Lip Blush. Oddly, this was my favorite part of this month’s box, and I never could have called that. Generally this isn’t a color I’d even give half a chance to… normally that purple tint just doesn’t work for me… but I love this one on! In addition to being a great color to wear it’s also moisturizing and comfortable.
From Sue Devitt, the Triple C-Weed Pressed Powder. The shade I got was Quiet & Still, which is unfortunately way too light for me. However, product wise I loved the feel of it and it gave nice coverage.
From Airelle, the Berrimatrix Intense Repair Complex. This is said to be a lightweight moisturizer chock full of anti-aging ingredients. While I can’t speak to that aspect (too small of a sample for long term use) I do like the feel and fragrance. You need very little to coat your face which is always a lovely thing 😉 It goes on rather oily feeling but dries quickly, doesn’t leave a residue and isn’t sticky.
From Anatomicals, the Spray Misty for Me Facial Spritz. I’m not a huge fan of the face mist from any brand. I just don’t get it. I know they’re supposed to be calming and revitalizing, but no matter which one I use I never see any ground breaking results, even over a long period of time. What I do like to do with facial mists when I get them is keep them in the fridge, so when it’s a hot day or I’ve just finished working out (haha) the cool mist makes me feel relaxed and refreshed.
From Novex, the Brazillian Keratin Hair Care Treatment Cream. This is a nice, affordable ($4.99 for a full size 3.5oz – shown) and quick for a treatment. Three minutes should leave you with shiny, smooth, healthy hair. My hair definitely felt smooth without that weighed down look. It’s not my top product, but it’s much much more affordable and gets the job done.
And, an awesome little gift this month, a light denim Guess makeup bag and a 30% coupon off to Guess.
With GlossyBox you get a bit of everything, makeup, skin care, nails, fragrance… I love that this subscription box is sure to cover all of the bases, every single month.
I’m pretty pleased with the items in this months box, but this may be the first month that I won’t use every product included. The powder is too light (though I did like the formula) and a facial mist just isn’t for me. Fortunately, it’s not a total loss because I’m in love with the lip product and found an affordable hair treatment! Huzzah!
GLOSSYBOX is a subscription service. You sign up on the website and then from there you can order your subscription based on one month, six months, or a year. You’ll answer a series of questions and based off of that, you will receive a customized box. This is all pretty standard for a beauty subscription service.
The price is a bit higher than that of other services you may have heard of or belong to. At $21 I would expect double the awesomeness of what I’d receive from, say, Birchbox.
GLOSSYBOX will always offer a MINIMUM of five products. After receiving your box, you can fill out more surveys in order to rate the products you received so they can better tailor your next package. So, basically, after a few months of the service, your packages should be PERFECT.
**TIP – Make sure you review the products received in your GLOSSYBOX to receive 20 GLOSSYDots per review. You can use these toward your own free box!**
Looks like a nice box! I think the lip product and the powder look nice!

I have one of the lip crayons and like it. That and the Guess bag would be my favorites if I’d kept my subscription.
Did you know that Sue Devitt is no more? The company is out of business.

I had no idea! I’ve never used the brand before. Weird it’s in the GB if it’s not a company! The powder felt pretty nice!
