Giorgio Armani 2 VENOMOUS GREEN Scarabeo Kaleidoscope Face & Eye Palette Swatches, Review & EOTD – Fall 2013

The Giorgio Armani Scarabeo Kaleidoscope Face & Eye Palette in Venomous Green (Fall 2013) may be beautiful, but the quality was truly disappointing.  I hate giving bad reviews on anything, but I tried this palette multiple ways and just wasn’t happy with anything that came out.

IMG_3454What Nordstrom says about the Giorgio Armani Scarabeo Kaleidoscope Face & Eye Palette:

Giorgio Armani’s Face and Eye Palette is a two-in-one palette featuring everything you need to create a radiant look for your face and eyes. The satin-shadow formula delivers long-lasting color with a smudge-free finish.

The first tier features a feather-light face powder with micronized particles of Micro-Fil™ technology to illuminate your skin with a signature Armani glow.

The second tier features two matte eyeshadows in intense hues and an illuminator formulated with Color-Fil™ technology.

IMG_3425 IMG_3429 IMG_3432 IMG_3434 IMG_3441 IMG_3451IMG_3446 IMG_4881Venomous Green contains a trio of some of my favorite eye shadow shades in a chocolatey charcoal brown, a deep teal green (with the olive overspray) and an icy mint.

The shades swatch beautifully but wear on the eye is sheer and disappointing.  They went on smoothly, just without much pigment.  I also wasn’t impressed with how they blended.  Really, for the money, I expected way better.  You’re really better off taking your $88 and buying 30 palettes from Wet n Wild (was that just blasphemy?  Sorry designer lovers…).  I imagine applying the Armani palette wet obviously would make the pigment more apparent, but for the cost I’d like to be able to travel with it to use on the fly and also not ruin it with liquid.

The middle shade has an olive overspray that disappears after the first use.  Oddly, when worn, the color of the shadow remains the same regardless.

IMG_4863In the FOTD below I’m wearing the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow in 32 Gold Hercule all over the lid as my eyeshadow base.  Using the Venomous Green palette I’ve applied the teal green all over the lid, the brown lightly in the crease and the icy mint at the inner corners and to highlight.  The eye liner is Marc Jacobs Ro(cocoa) and the mascara is Too Faced Better Than Sex.

On my face I’m wearing Clinique CC Cream in Light Medium, NARS Deauville Radiant Cream Compact Foundation, IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation and the Venomous Green Palette pink blush.  For my brows I used NARS Kalamata Brow Perfector and NARS Oural Brow Gel.  On my lips is Burberry Cameo Lipstick.

IMG_4926IMG_4905The Giorgio Armani Scarabeo Kaleidoscope Face & Eye Palette retails for $88.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave and the Giorgio Armani website.  This item is limited edition.

These are stunning! Thanks for your review, I would never have known about the overspray. I am in love with the green one.

I was just going to order it and thank goodness I read your review. I love ETK shadows but never loved their powder eyeshadows. It’s a good thing I read this because I was going to give them another chance.

I’m seriously SO SAD about this palette. It’s gorgeous =( Swatched gorgeous… but every look I tried with it was a huge fail. It’s so rare for me to not be able to get a product to work in SOME way. I just couldn’t with this one.
