Again, the ipsy Glam Bag continues to amaze. While this month wasn’t full of perfection it was well worth the $10. It’d be well worth $20 (but don’t go raising the price on us, girl!).
The theme for the August 2013 ipsy Glam Bag is Glamour Academy.
What you see above is a purple makeup bag with gold “Glamour Academy” emblems patterned all over. Very on theme.
The card is basically there to give you the run down of what is in your bag and the discounts you can get by visiting the Glam Room on ipsy.com. There are quite a few this month, which is exciting!
What’s inside?
From Smashbox, the Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I know most of you love this. On my Makeup Alley days all I heard about was how awesome this product was. I felt like it just sat on top of my skin and also really made no difference in the appearance or longevity of my makeup. Though, I wasn’t a fan of any face primer until I met Miracle Skin Transformer.
From MicaBeauty, the Mineral Eyeshadow (or Shimmer Powder) in Bronze. This is a pretty color, appropriate for Summer as a golden bronze… my downfall is that I’m not the hugest fan of loose eyeshadows and mineral products tend to melt or fade on me (very, very few actually work). It’s swatched below with the Urban Decay lippie.
From Urban Decay an adorable mini size of the new Revolution Lipstick formula. I’ve reviewed a few of these and am in love with the creamy feel. My mini-size was in the shade 69.
From Michael Todd, the Pumpkin Nutrient-Rich Facial Mask. This smells like pumpkin pie and will make you want to eat your own face. But don’t, because you’re hopefully not on bath salts and you’ll want to use this for a clean feeling face. It says to leave it on for 5-10 min but my skin is sensitive and this tingles… which made me nervous so I only left it on for two minutes. My skin still looked and felt awesome, though. After reading some of the ipsters reviews that it felt burny I’m glad I didn’t leave it on too long.
From Pixi Beauty, the Lash Booster Mascara in Blackest Black. I love Pixi, but this mascara was kind of dry and didn’t really do much for me. IDK if maybe the samples were bad but I’m hearing a lot of similar complaints from other ipsy subscribers. A shame, because the Pixi shadows are so lovely… the mascara should compliment that!
For having referrals, ipsy included this nail polish by Lime Crime in Crema de Limon. The formula was awesome on this polish, normally I have issues with every yellow cream I try, but this one was opaque and even in 2 coats. Supposedly referrals granted an UD shadow or this really cute bracelet… but a nail polish is just as lovely of a surprise! Especially when it’s from a brand I’ve heard a lot about but haven’t had the chance to try yet!
Definitely worth the $10 and then some. I am absolutely in for August since the value from ipsy remains fabulous and keeps getting better and better!
Ipsy does profile pages now, so here is mine. And now they finally are offering a referral program, basically refer two friends get an UD shadow, a Lime Crime Nail Polish, an NOPI Nail Polish or a BaubleBar bracelet for free in your next bag. Soooo go sign up because you’re missing out!
Here is where you can go to subscribe to ipsy for a Glam Bag.
What do you think about the August Glam Bag? Are you going to subscribe for September? I know I’m looking forward to my next bag!

I actually enjoyed my bag this month. I was debating if I was going to keep ipsy and this has me going at least another month.

I’m not that thrilled with this month’s Ipsy. No mini lipstick – boo hoo. I got a Noya lip balm in Cherry, the dried up Pixi (so disappointing since I wanted to try it), the pumpkin mask and a City Color blush stick that looks like an ELF one I have. Not bad but not great either.

I wonder wtf was up with the Pixi. I love their products, I wonder if those samples were a bad batch. It seemed like everyone’s was dried out.
I wish I’d signed up this month. LOVE that bronze shadow!! I’m going to sign up and I will use your referral link! xo Amber

Looks like one of the best bags I’ve seen in recent months- I really want to try Michael Todd. I just wore that Limecrime polish the other day!
