Urban Decay ADDICTION Nail Polish Swatches & Review (and possible dupe?!)

August 6, 2013

For Fall 2013 Urban Decay has two nail polishes that are going to made your heart absolutely race.  Vice and Addicted are rock n’ roll all the way up to the skull on their caps.  As of this post I’m so regretting only getting the one shade, I feel like I totally separated siblings or something.

IMG_2868What Ulta says about Urban Decay Addiction Nail Polish:

It’s the one you’ve been waiting for: Nail Color from Urban Decay. Ultra sophisticated and EXTREMELY limited edition, these gorgeous, decadent (and very UD) colors feature complex shade work, super-rich pigments and dynamic micro-sparkle. Each fall and spring, Urban Decay will handpick two new limited-edition shades. Get them while you can – because once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. Urban Decay’s long-wearing, chip-resistant formula has a high-gloss finish that’s tough and durable, yet flexible. Each shade is 3-free – formulated without toluene, formaldehyde or DBP. And the high-performance, 400-strand brush picks up more product than other brushes, grabbing on to color to give you a clean, even laydown of polish. Sturdy yet precise, it even makes painting the outer corners of your nails easy. Each FULL-SIZE bottle holds 10 ml of nail polish – plenty of color to last all season long – and features a custom-designed cap topped with a skull (complete with roses for the eyes). Applying your favorite shade never looked so HOT.

IMG_2848 IMG_2861 IMG_2862 IMG_3200Addiction has a deep mossy green-grey base with a with a golden olive and silver shimmer.  I was impressed how well this painted on the nail and wore well for a few days before showing a bit of tip wear.  Three coats were needed for full and even opacity.

Dupe town?  Are Urban Decay Addiction and Chanel Graphite similar?  Well.  The Chanel has a sheerer grey base and way more gold (which you see better in person vs. the pic) while the UD polish shows off a thicker, green-toned base color… IMO it’s not a dupe, but it could stuff your craving for Graphite, and cheaply at that!

IMG_3269This second, blurry pic shows the difference much better.

IMG_3270Urban Decay Addiction Nail Polish retails for $15.00 and can be purchased at Sephora, Ulta and urbandecay.com.

Love the dupe comparison. Of course, I prefer the UD!

I played with both of them, I really liked the colors (nice transition for fall!). The UD rep swore that it only took one coat to get full coverage, but I agree with you, three coats!
