For a drugstore brand, across the board, CoverGirl is usually on point with their mascaras. This Summer’s release of Flamed Out Mascara didn’t do exactly what I expected, but I’m still a fan for different reasons.
The shade reviewed below is the Very Black Blaze, but it’s also available in Black Blaze, Brown Blaze and Black/Brown Blaze.
Flamed Out features an hourglass shaped wand that is stated to give you “bigger, thicker and fuller lashes to help maximize volume”.
On me, this mascara definitely elongated and made my lashes appear feather-light, but to get the maximized/thick/full effect you’d have to do several coats (below is one coat). Several coats with this mascara caused the lashes to clump a bit, and it wasn’t particularly the look I was going for.
I do love this mascara for every day wear when I’m just running around, but for some crazy ka-pow lashes I recommend CoverGirl Clump Crusher, of which you can layer to your hearts content.

Your eyelashes are already gorgeous without mascara, lol. I’ve been lusting over Clump Crusher but don’t have the money to grab it for myself.
