This post will wrap up my coverage of the Chanel L’Ete Papillon de Chanel Collection for Summer 2013. For now. I ordered the quad offline and plan on picking up a few more pieces as well. I’m completely addicted to this collection!
From the six limited edition Stylo Eyeshadows I chose my three favorites – Moon River, Pink Lagoon and Jade Shore. I did swatch all of them in store, and you can see those via the photo on my Instagram feed.
What Nordstrom says about Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow:
A smooth-gliding pen applicator delivers a lightweight, long-wear shadow that highlights eyes with gleaming color. The cooling, water-infused formula creates a shimmering veil on lids – or precisely lines the eyes with perfect definition. An exclusive creation from the L’ETE PAPILLON DE CHANEL collection.
(L-R: Moon River, Pink Lagoon, Jade Shore)
Moon River is a beautiful shimmering taupe, clearly, if you know me at all, you knew this would be one of the ones I’d pick 😉
Pink Lagoon is a vibrant rose pink. Generally not a shade on my radar, but it’s so different for me and swatched beautifully that it had to come home to casa Blushing Noir!
Jade Shore is like a seafoam green with a hint of teal. This is that popular shade we’re seeing from every brand this season, and I’m LOVING IT!
These metallic shadow pencils feel cool and gel like to the touch, reminiscent of the Illusion D’Ombre in another form. They’re long-lasting and wore all day on me without creasing, even when applied directly to the eye without the aid of a secondary primer. The shadows over-top will just help them set that much better.
For the EOTD look below the Stylo Eyeshadows are worn alone. They’re sheer and a little patchy, even when not blended out. Below I have Jade Shore all over the lid and blended up (because that’s what the card at the counter told me to do for this eye look), Moon River at the inner corners and Pink Lagoon under the eye. I added another layer of Jade Shore to work as a top liner and put Chanel True Blue Stylo Yeux on as a bottom waterline. The mascaras are Chanel Le Volume with Chanel Inimitable Waterproof in Lime Light at the tips.
I wasn’t happy with the above look. At all. Quick fix? Dust Le Metier de Beaute True Color Eyeshadow (the top shade from Splendid Frost) in over top. This is a greyed taupe with a golden cast. It was in an LE palette, but you can get a similar effect from Le Metier de Beaute Corinthian or Chanel Safari.
For my FOTD I did the eye look above and also had on IT Cosmetics Brow Power and a brow gel from Missha (to be reviewed). My face had Miracle Skin Transformer Face, Missha BB Cream (to be reviewed) and IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. On my cheeks is Chanel Sable Rose Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder (from last Summer) and used a mixture of Chanel Troublant and Caprice Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss on my lips.
Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow retails for $34.00 and is available for purchase at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and chanel.com.
I bought Jade Shore today, and Lime Light – my first ever Chanel purchase. I can’t believe I’d never bought anything from there before as I there are so many things I want but I feel like I’ve opened up the floodgates to many more purchases in the near future. I would never have thought pale jade eyeshadow would work on me but I just love it. My lids are terribly oily so I prefer to apply it with a brush as opposed to directly from the tube to get a slightly thinner layer that I can build up.
It’s a slippery slope, that Chanel is 😉 That’s a good tip on the application for oily lids! I’ll need to remember it in case someone asks 😉
I love that Moon River, have always had good results with Chanel.
Moines river is just too pretty !
Hi Brooke,
Given how sheer and patchy they apply, do you find these worth picking up at all? They’re certainly pretty colors, but is there anything unique to them?
Thanks!
Hi Christina!! They make a great colored base for shadows, since they did hold all day (which for me, can be hard to find, my lids get SO oily! TF Shadow Ins doesn’t work at all for me, UD works in my climate, when I head south I have to use MUFE) and they are wonderful at transforming your eye look into lusty 😉
If you’re a Chanel fan I’d say they’re a must have. If you’re curious definitely pick up one (since they do hold the product well) and go from there. I’d have gotten the other shades if I didn’t have the Illusion D’Ombre’s already in similar colors. Moon River will probably be the most versatile, Jade Shore is the most on trend.
Thanks so much for the suggestions! I am a Chanel fan, but I try to limit my ever growing collection.
I have oily lids, too! You’re right, they would make great bases and give my eyeshadows a beautiful pearly finish. 🙂
Moon River and Pink Lagoon are calling my name!
