Burberry DARK SPICE Complete Eye Palette Swatches, Review and EOTD

January 15, 2013

It’s safe to say that I’ve been more than a little obsessed with Burberry lately.  Don’t ask questions, just go with it.

In late 2012 Burberry Beauty released seven quads and called them the Complete Eye Palette.  It was hard for me to choose, but in the end I settled on one I knew I’d love – No. 05 Dark Spice.

This Complete Eye Palette comes with four shadows (a gold, chocolate, bronze and black) in a soft velvet pouch and three small applicators.

001What the Nordstrom website has to say about the Burberry Complete Eye Palette:

Designed for effortless application, each Burberry Beauty Complete Eye Palette contains an illuminating base, two blendable shades to add structure and a liner to define and enrich.

The lightweight, natural formula allows you to create a customizable smoky finish, while the spectrum of textures blended with silicones provide smooth glide and easy application. Micronized pigments impart long-lasting, vibrant color in a color-true finish.

Comes in a convenient velvet pouch with three applicators to help you create a multitude of looks.

002 003103004   005006007In Dark Spice the pigment is intense on all of the shades.  This is my first experience with Burberry eye shadow and I really found that the quality was fabulous.  The shadows blended well and made for a seriously smoky chocolate eye.  Think Jennifer Love Hewitt in the Ghost Whisperer type of eye.  Hot.

Dark Spice leans incredibly warm, so keep that in mind before ordering.

For the EOTD I went a bit more dramatic and started off with the bronze shade all over the lid, the chocolate shade in the crease and the black in the outer V.  I used the golden shade above the chocolate to blend out the crease, but I felt like it made the look a bit sallow.  The liner is MAC Orpheus Kohl Power and the mascara is Chanel Le Volume.

I think for more normal wear I would put the golden shade on the lid and then work the bronze, chocolate and black in with it that way.  Maybe with the black as a liner!

008Have you tried any of these out yet?  Which did you purchase or which one are you lemming?  No. 06 Plum Pink is definitely next on my list!

The Burberry Complete Eye Palette retails for $59.00 and is available at Nordstrom.

I’d get a lot of use out of all these colors, but I particularly like the peachy tone. Kind of unique yet very wearable and neutral for everyday

The peach/gold shade is what makes this palette stand out, for sure. Stunning!

I heard people saying that these palettes were poor in quality and pretty bad, but judging from your EOTD and swatches it looks quite good? I love the look of it, but somehow I suddenly grew sensible.. so I haven’t found a way to justify the purchase. Gorgeous on you though!

Thank you! I think you’d probably like one of the more neutral ones. Ones like that also help to justify the price point a little more because you’ll be reaching for them a lot!
