MAC has gone the way of vintage in their holiday palettes this year, making the casing look like those plush cushions for your derriere 😉
Three eye kits were released as part of Holiday 2012 Fabulousness – 5 Warm Eyes, 5 Smoky Eyes and today’s post of 5 Neutral Eyes.
What the MAC website has to say about Fabulousness: 5 Neutral Eyes Holiday Eye Kit:
A palette of five perfectly coordinated neutral Eye Shadows that blend for softly chic holiday looks. Highly pigmented M∙A∙C formulas highlight and contour with buildable colour intensity. Satin-tufted compact with demure black patent bow accent.
5 Neutral Eyes is a palette that contains five shades – L-R: Magical Mist, Blonde Mink, Brun, Enviable and Smut.
Magical Mist (metallic taupe, lustre) – this is probably my least favorite from this palette. It serves it’s purpose, but I wish it involved a little more pigment. I really had to pack it on to get it show up at the inner corners of the eye. Stupid lustres.
Blonde Mink (mid-tone grey with silver pearlized pigments, lustre) – for a luster, this applied REALLY well to the lid. Nice color and applied evenly when using a firm brush such as the MAC 239.
Brun (muted blackish brown, satin) – This shade is a common one and well loved. It’s a little patchy, but blends well on top of another color. This shade is part of the permanent collection.
Enviable (cool mint green with pearl, veluxe pearl) – Clearly the heavy favorite for me. It’s a Veluxe Pearl so you know the pigment and shine is there. Enviable works well on it’s own or to help blend out the drier shades.
Smut (muted black with red shimmer, velvet) – Smut is also a common shade, and like Brun applies best when worked in with another shadow since it’s rather dry. This shade is part of the permanent collection.
I know it’s gotten a bad rap, but I really adore this palette. Regardless of the feedback, I saw this being applied on someone at the mall and she looked stunning. The shades are so complimentary and look gorgeous. These are the shades I gravitate towards and the pop of green really makes it stand out. Even though two of the five shades are permanent, the price point is worth it for me because I don’t own either of the permanent colors and this is a palette I’ll reach for quite a bit.
Tips: Some of the shades do run sheer, but you can combat this by using a beautiful taupe shade as a base before applying your eye makeup. This will make your eye even more smoky. Also, chuck the brush they include. You need something more firm to grab the colors and the included brush has such a small handle it makes it harder to control application.
In the eye look below I used all five shades from Fabulousness: 5 Neutral Eyes Holiday Eye Kit (Magical Mist – inner corners & highlight; Blonde Mink – lid; Brun – crease; Enviable – above the crease & smudged under the eye; Smut – outer V) as well as MAC Mystery Kohl Power and MAC Plushlash Mascara.

It doesn’t seem that neutral to me

Yeah I thought this was more smoky, and then in person the smoky palette seemed more cool. If you don’t use all of the shades it COULD be neutral, but then whats the point lol

I really don’t follow MAC, but the eye look you created is gorgeous. I love the way you blended the tones
