For the Holiday 2012 Grand Bal Collection, Dior not only created four new lipsticks, but they also housed them in some new and attention getting packaging!
The Holiday Diorific Lipstick ($36.00 each) arrives to us in four shades, three of which I have here to show you today – Diva, Diorling and Lady. I passed on Marilyn because it was just too pink for me, and I rarely reach for such a saturated pink lipstick. Though, I almost bought it because of the name!
What the Nordstrom website has to say about Diorific – Le Grand Bal Lipstick:
A limited edition collection of precious Rouge Diorific lipsticks encased in vintage-inspired gold cases. Provides true, vibrant color and long-wearing results, making them the perfect accessory for any occasion.
Diva
Diva is a warm, bright and cheerful holiday red. The perfect choice for your evening soiree!
Diorling
Diorling is a classic saturated brick red. Flawless for an evening out that is full of festivities!
Lady
Lady is a pigmented red that is almost vintage looking. It is going to be the easiest to wear the most, either with jeans or with something more formal.
These lipsticks were all fabulous in terms of formula and wear well until you grab something to eat or drink, so you should be able to get several good hours out of them. Make sure before you apply that you exfoliate your lips and get them “red ready”.
Sooooo….let’s just get at the elephant in the room. These shades are slightly similar. There isn’t a whole lot of difference in how they appear on the lips to justify owning all three of them. I love a red lip, and tend to hoard the color. But, if I could only choose one, it would be Lady. Lady is the more wearable of the three in terms of vibrancy and it’s a shade or so off from anything else I have currently in my stash.
I’m unsure if I’m a fan of the packaging. I think it would have looked fabulous in the shape of a regular Dior lipstick, but instead of navy they could have made it the shiny gold with silver accents. What do you all think?

Really love the shade and name of Diorling. Also a huge fan of the packaging! Only downside is they look really heavy? My handbag is heavy enough as it is!

They actually aren’t too heavy! Same as a regular Dior lippie I think!

I’m pretty new to liking red lip color but these are all gorgeous and they look fabulous on you! I’d definitely like to have Lady as it looks more like something that would get used most often. That packaging…love!
