In honor of the James Bond 007 50th Anniversary, OPI has chosen to release Skyfall, a collection for Holiday 2012 inspired by the series. FYI the 23rd installment of this series opens in theaters tomorrow!
There is also a 18K Gold Leaf Top Coat, The Man With the Golden Gun, released separately, which I will be reviewing very shortly.
Enjoy the swatches, my recommendations are at the bottom!
Skyfall is a super glossy maroon. Application was really smooth and pigmentation was great. Two coats.
Moonraker
Moonraker is a metallic silver grey. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of metallics. They show streaks and every imperfection on your nail, even the ones you didn’t know were there. Not as bad as Essie, though not pretty. Three coats.
The World is Not Enough
The World is Not Enough is a very complex shade. Lots of pink and grey shimmers, but sort of duochrome metallic-like… yet on the sheer side. Even after the three coats you could still see some VNL. I think this would likely be a better one for layering, maybe over a deep taupe.
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is stunning. An interesting mix of golds, blues, pinks, green… It’s a little thin but would look really good over a navy. Three coats.
Live and Let Die
Live and Let Die is FLAWLESS. Not kidding. This black forest green with green and gold glitter. It has gorgeous coloring and is a one coat wonder!
Goldeneye
Goldeneye is a glittery foil looking gold. I found the application to be sheer, and the above swatch is three coats. I would either go for 4 or layer this one over a gold or even a black shade.
Casino Royale
Casino Royale is the color of creamy sugar plums. It’s a bit more fun than a vampy maroon but still tame enough for wear at multiple occasions. A sensible choice for your holiday nail! Two coats.
Die Another Day
Die Another Day is a bright, warm red shimmer with a hint of orange. The formula is fantastic and it’s another one coat wonder!
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Spy Who Loved Me is a warm red loaded with gold shimmers. This was almost good in one coat, but it needed two for perfection.
You Only Live Twice
You Only Live Twice is a reddened fuchsia with fuchsia and golden shimmer. As tired as I am of fuchsia this particular polish is stunning. The formula was a little on the thin side so I used three coats to be safe.
Tomorrow Never Dies
Tomorrow Never Dies is a fall on your face knock-out gorgeous shade of indigo. Application of the first coat had me worried, but the second coat was flawless and I had to wipe a bit of drool off of my chin. Not kidding. I know, the finish is slightly streaky, but when a color is this HOT that just doesn’t matter. #FACT.
The Living Daylights
The Living Daylights is has a clear base with copper, gold, silver and teal hex glitters. I love the color combo and haven’t seen anything similar, but it took some maneuvering to get the glitters to cooperate. Shown as one coat over top of Tomorrow Never Dies.
Must haves are On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Live and Let Die and Tomorrow Never Dies.
Nice to haves are The World is Not Enough, Goldeneye and The Living Daylights.
If you don’t already have something similar definitely pick up Skyfall, Casino Royale, Die Another Day, The Spy Who Loved Me and You Only Live Twice.
Skip on Moonraker. This is the only one I can’t recommend from this collection, and I kind of feel bad that it fell flat. Metallic shades like this are rough.
For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.
The OPI Skyfall Collection will be available beginning October 2012 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.
Great collection! Especially loving the You Only Live Twice shade!

You Only Live Twice and Goldeneye are definitely my favorites from this collection! Also I’m so glad I skipped Moonraker, it would just look terrible on my peeling nails!

those Metallics definitely need some help… perfect nails don’t exist for most of us!
I like Live and Let Die the most, but it really reminds me of a england Beauty Never Fails, and I think the a england one has prettier shimmer and glow 🙂
