With the launch of the new skin care line from NARS, NARSskin, I got the opportunity to test a few products out. NARS is one of my favorite makeup brands, so of course I was extremely excited to get on board with skin care as well!
The three products I tested were the ones I’d generally use from day to day – the Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer, Total Replenishing Eye Cream and Aqua Gel Luminous Mask.
Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer
The Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer ($58.00) smells great and feels cool to the skin, making me feel refreshed. A little goes a long way, as it smooths out easily and absorbs quickly. After application the skin feels soft and supple.
Total Replenishing Eye Cream
The Total Replenishing Eye Cream ($55.00) dispenses easily and at just the right amount to pat under your eye and smooth out. I didn’t test this out for fine lines, puffiness, or wrinkles (you’ll see why I discontinued use of these products below) but it did absorb quickly and felt good on the skin under the eyes.
Aqua Gel Luminous Mask
The Aqua Gel Luminous Mask ($39.00) isn’t a mask in the true sense of the word. It’s more of an extra moisturizing step for your skin. It doesn’t absorb as quickly as the moisturizer, but since it would be a final step on your face and throat it’s not an issue.
I actually went back and forth for a bit on whether or not I even wanted to do this review. I couldn’t test longer than 4 or 5 days because I broke out horribly. This was still while using my usual Murad Clarifying Cleanser, which usually will stave off my hormonal breakouts.
While I’m not sure if it was just one product or several that broke me out, I discontinued use right away and went back to my usual routine to keep my skin mostly clear. I do have skin that is extremely sensitive to break-outs, but not everything will make me break out. While I couldn’t speak to the way any of these products will work in the long run, I thought it would be beneficial to still post about my experience just in case someone else has similar skin issues and was wondering if these products cause breakouts. On me, yes, they did.
