You all know about my love of all things leopard as well as my inability to pass by anything that has that print. For Fall 2012 Tarte is jumping on the bandwagon of stripping my wallet bare by releasing the small but mighty Call of the Wild products.
Of course, I purchased both items (see the Amazonian Clay Liner), but this post will be dedicated exclusively to the Eyeshadow Palette ($36).
The eight shades in this palette run both cool and warm, and can be mixed up to create a variety of looks.
- Meow, a shimmering sun-kissed gold shade
- Jungle, a shimmering chocolate bronze shade
- Call, a rich petal pink shade
- Instinct, a shimmering champagne ivory shade
- Wild, a shimmering plum shade
- Lynx, a soft matte greige shade
- Primal, a soft matte deep gray shade
- Roar, a matte navy shade
I thought most of the shimmering shades were nicely pigmented and easy to use. Wild just may be my second favorite eye shadow color of all time (behind taupe, of course). The only two shades out of the eight that were disappointing were Roar and Instinct. Roar was rather chalky and didn’t smooth out easily. Instinct didn’t transfer well to the eye and I had to really pack it on to get it to look the way I wanted. These shades would both be better off used wet, or maybe Roar as a liner.
All three eye looks below have the Tarte Amazonian Clay Liner on top, MUFE Aqua Eyes in 0L, and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara.
(look using Call, Instinct, Jungle, Meow)
(look using Lynx, Wild, Instinct, Call)
(look using Primal, Roar, Instinct, Lynx)
The Call of the Wild Products are exclusive to Ulta and Ulta.com. IDK why, but on Ulta’s page they’re both coming up as no longer available. Though they had a TON of them in store. Call to check on availability before you drive out.

Love your matte look. I have 4 pallets of Tarte Amazonian Clay eyeshadows and like most all the shades sans a couple that are too sparkly for me. They seem to stay very true but then I always wear a primer by Garden Botanaica I have used since the 90’s and adore – they came out with a primer before any other company knew about shadow primers – well I think there was one I tried around the same time I found GB’s that Lancome made but none I have tried since ever matched up to Garden Botanica’s primer.

It’s interesting because I find that Instinct is a great highlighter shade and sometimes a lid shade. I’m not crazy about Lynx but I’m not a big matte fan.
Your pictures are terrific, my review is coming up on Friday and I only wish my photos were half as good.
I did see this at Ulta just last week so I know it’s available.

That’s why there needs to be so many of us blogging! So many different things work for different people.
Thank you! I can’t wait to check out your review! Ulta had a ton, then weeks later I went back and they had a ton more. So IDK if maybe they’re trying to push them in store, rather than the site? Very weird!

This is a great neutral palette. Of course I want it just because of the Leopard Print also!
