This is a different type of product for me. I’ve never used a cream-to-powder foundation, so I was curious as to if it’d be okay on it’s own, will I need something else, will my skin be accepting of this…. plus mineral makeup and I either get along, or we don’t. There is no in-between.
That being said, Youngblood is a brand I’ve been REALLY interested in testing out. I’ve seen it around the interwebs, but this is my first experience with any of their products hands on.
The Mineral Radiance Crème Powder Foundation is suitable for all skin-types (ideally normal to dry) and is available in 8 shades. For the purposes of this review, I’ll be testing out my shade, which is Honey.
What the Youngblood website has to say about Mineral Radiance Crème Powder Foundation:
This 2-in-1 foundation glides on smoothly with a creamy feel and sets to a luminous, powdery finish. The nutrient-rich formula helps soothe redness and keeps skin hydrated and supple. Provides even, natural coverage for a radiant, flawless appearance. (0.25 oz/7 g)
The descriptions on the site are really accurate as far as being able to choose your shade sight unseen. I’ve been told I pull both warm and cool, so I needed something neutral. I’m not fair, but I’m not exactly medium either. Based off of the swatches and descriptions provided I was able to pick my shade exactly on the first try – Honey (which is neutral, fair/medium, yellow & pink).
I found that this foundation applied easily and wasn’t heavy. The cream blended well onto the face with the provided sponge and set nicely into powder form almost immediately.
Your skin will look just matte enough, but with a bit of luminosity. It lasted a lot longer than I expected (mineral makeup tends to fade immediately on me) and even though this begins as a cream, it was still easy to touch-up where needed while on-the-go. There is a slight fragrance to it. I’m a little sensitive to smells, but this wasn’t overpowering or offensive.
For reference, I’m generally NW25 for MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation and BR42 for Chanel Perfection Lumiere.
Youngblood Mineral Radiance Crème Powder Foundation retails for $56.00 and can be purchased at ybskin.com. Orders over $75.00 qualify for free shipping (offer valid for US only)! Check here for a retailer near you.
