Nordstrom Anniversary Sale time has just recently ended. And while Chanel makeup obviously wasn’t on sale, we were treated to an exclusive release that was previously only available in Asia this past Spring – Fleur de Lotus.
As with every collection that Chanel releases, I wanted everything. I walked away with only the quad because I thought the blush was too similar to the Blush Horizon de Chanel from the US Spring launch. I was also interested in the Illusions d’Ombre in Riviere (because it is a minty shade!) but in person it was just too frosty and sheered out for my liking.
The Les 4 Ombres in 35 Rives is the answer to achieving that neutral smoky eye that can be worn all day at work and deepened for an evening out.
What the Nordstrom website has to say about the Chanel Les 4 Ombres RIVES Eyeshadow Palette:
From classic ivory to rich brown, the shades of the essential eyeshadow compact offer unlimited looks of elegance. The smudge-proof, dermatologist-tested formula can be applied dry for subtle shading or dampened for more intense color, with long-wearing results even in extreme climates.
Rives is a neutral palette consisting of an ivory, peach, plum taupe, and chocolate brown shadow. The color combination is stunning and should work for all eye colors, especially those with brown, hazel or green eyes.
I’m not a super fan of the baked shadows, mostly because they’re more sheer and I’m just a snob about liking the presentation of the square pan that we have here in the States. But I exclude Rives from this snobbery. The shades, even when used dry and sheer, are gorgeous! They work together seamlessly and blend like a dream. When used wet, you’ll achieve a deeper pigment, but I prefer them as they are.
For this EOTD I began by applying a thin layer of Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the lid. I took Rives and used the peachy shade all over the lid, the plum taupe in the crease and the chocolate brown in the outer V. The ivory shade was used in the inner corners and to highlight. I mixed the plum taupe and peach shades and added a bit of shadow under the outer part of the lower lash line. The liner is Chanel Brun Le Crayon Yeux and the mascara is Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill.
Chanel Rives Les 4 Ombres retails for $58. It is available at Nordstrom as an exclusive for their recently passed Anniversary Sale. As of this post, it’s still available on the website, but I know my local store has sold out. So, act fast!
