Over the weekend as I headed to the Chanel counter, I had no intention of buying a lipstick. I knew what I wanted, and was hoping to get in and out as cheaply as possible. (Hilarious. I know… don’t judge me). Seeing things in person is such a good and bad idea. Good, because you know if you’ll like it or not… but BAD when you like EVERYTHING.
I ended up coming home with one lipstick – Caractere Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Color. It’s pretty much Fall perfection.
What the Nordstrom website has to say about Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Color:
CHANEL introduces a modern interpretation of classic creme lip color as an homage to the rich life and legacy of Coco Chanel. New lightweight lip color glides on for easy application, and features a Hydratendre complex to help soften, soothe and condition lips—even boosting their ability to hold in moisture—for a plumper, smoother and healthier-looking appearance. A range of wearable shades with full-coverage finishes, from matte to pearl to soft shimmer.
Caractere is the lipstick version of Troublant. A plummy rose cream with very little shimmer and a great amount of pigment. It’s so creamy yet moisturizing. A very elegant and natural shade.
If you’re iffy about vampy shades for Fall, this particular shade is a fabulous alternative.
Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Color retail for $32.50 each and are available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Macys.

This looks so good on you! I just got home after a visit to Nordstrom just to look at Caractere. I swatched it, put it on and walked away. The gold flecks showed up prominently on my lips (is it possible the tester was off?) and the shade was much more somber looking on me. So odd that it pulled so much darker and browner on my lips. On me, it actually looked just like the LE Rouge Allure Lacque in Stunt, blotted, then add gold sparkles. I know. Weird. I would have bought it if it looked as good on my lips as it does on yours.

Thank you!!! Maybe someone tried it that had a gloss with gold flecks or something on it and it messed up the tester?

It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I was “this close” to getting it, but I have to cut back a little, so I just went with Troublant. It’s so hard to attempt not to get it, tho…soooooo hard….

This is stunning on you, Brooke. I walked away from it at the Chanel counter the other day, but now you have me wanting to go back and try it once more. I did buy Troublant though!
