Murad has an awesome product that will aid your foundation and powder so that they can perform to the best of their ability – the Skin Perfecting Primer! This is available in a Matte and Dewy finish, but for this post we’ll be concentrating on the Matte.

I’ve found that this product is fabulous for these hot, Summer days. While it’s not a full coverage, it’s not a light coverage either and works to blur imperfections and minimize those evil pores. Basically, it covers what I need it too while not feeling heavy. This helps your powder (or if you want a real foundation on top) apply smoothly and adhere a bit longer. I did get shiny after a few hours, but once I patted on a bit more powder I was flawless again 😉
The “color” is listed as natural and universal and blended well with my NW25 skin tone (I can pull both warm and cool, though!).
Murad Skin Perfecting Primer – Matte Finish retails for $35.00 and is available at Sephora, Ulta, BeautyBar, SkinCareRX, Beauty.com, as well as at murad.com.
Hi Brooke! I just got the same primer today because it felt okay on the back of my hand, but I haven’t tested it on my face. I noticed you mentioned you got shiny after a few hours. Would you say that the oil control aspect of the Skin Perfecting Primer is less than stellar? My T-zone is craaazy oily, and the sales assistant at my local Sephora recommended this to me, but I’ve read some reviews that said this primer isn’t that good at oil control… The Sephora here doesn’t have a flexible return policy like in US, so if I want to exchange this product for something else, I can’t use it.

Hi there! No matter how matte something says it is, I’ll get oily eventually. Especially on my forehead. It’s like a shine beacon lol I’d LOVE to meet a product that just sucked the oil out but didn’t dry me out!
I usually have to use blotting papers and then I reapply my powder (which makes me as matte as I could ever be) and it’s Lancome Dual Finish Powder.
I wasn’t expecting a miracle because I’m a “shine beacon” like you, but I tried this primer today and I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, it did not completely stop my T-zone from shining, but it did control the shine a little… That’s what I’d like to believe, anyway 😉 Thanks for sharing which powder you use! I’ll take a look at it.
I’m glad you liked it!! =D
I agree this is lovely, perfect for summer!
