For me, Chanel Summer is highly anticipated because of the Bronzing Powders. This year, they didn’t let us down and released two shades – 907 Sable Beige, and today’s post of 917 Sable Rose.
I chose Sable Rose because last Summer I picked up Chanel Bronze Corail (537) Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Powder, and Sable Rose (much like it’s name) was Rose to last years Coral. I passed on the 2012 Sable Beige because I thought it would be too much like other bronzers I have, and let’s be honest… I didn’t NEED one let alone both.
What the Nordstrom website has to say about Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder:
A unique powder formula lends subtle hints of warmth and shimmer to every complexion. It is comprised of seven unique shades, including a luminous gold, which can be applied separately to highlight and sculpt facial contours or blended together to achieve an overall bronzing effect that replicates the natural glow of sunbathed skin.
(indoors with flash; L-R: 5 Shades swatched separately, top 3 shades together, bottom 3 shades together, all shades together)
(outdoors in sun; L-R: 5 Shades swatched separately, top 3 shades together, bottom 3 shades together, all shades together)
Sable Rose is a lovely melange of tans, golds and roses. Not frosty or matte, but illuminating. (The description says 7 shades… but really there are 5, with 2 of the shades doubled). **To see this on my face, click here.
Where the bronzers from last year had to be watched, for fear that they’d turn muddy, Sable Rose has more of a glow when worn on the cheeks. While I didn’t swatch very heavily on my arm, it seems that a lot of pigment is showing. When blended out on the cheek, Sable Rose is a subtle rosy glow.
Having the colored stripes makes it easy to pick up for contouring, cheek color, and highlighting, or you can swirl all the shades together for a rosy bronzed sheen. The included brush is nice for this, but isn’t very firm… so for this product I like to use my MAC 168.
While this powder isn’t over powering at first sweep, you CAN build it up by layering. Apply lightly… before you know it, even the lightest bronzer can get out of hand.
Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder retails for $60.00 and is available at your local Chanel counter, their corresponding websites, and Chanel.com. Both Sable Rose and Sable Beige are Limited Edition.
